I'm just trying to see what the general opinion of this on the wiki is, because I find it really annoying to continually have to switch the player off every I visit a page (something I haven't really noticed how to do comparing edit history also). I've seen Agent C and I think Jspoelstra switch it off on some pages already, and I for one think it is better that way.

I saw Garoux mention a way to switch it off for individual accounts but that still leaves anonymous IPs who have complained about it in the dust. One such user on the Vault 11 talk page as I recall. Great Mara (talk) 06:34, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

If this is a large problem in our community, then I see no choice but to switch the auto-play feature off within our article pages. With the feature off, there is no harm and all it takes is a simple click to utilize it. With the feature on, we are alienating many who do not wish to take part in the feature on a regular basis. I think switching off auto-play should be a given. When music in mainspace pages was discussed, I remember it being said we'd only auto-play in the main page, and leave it off in regular articles. Limmiegirl Lildeneb Talk! ♪ 11:31, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

What do you mean by main page? The song page? Well anyway, I wasn't sure what to set it to when I added it to the pages, switch if off standard or autoplay. I don't want to set it to autoplay on the FNV pages, but I did set it to autoplay on the 'less high profiled' FO1/FO2 location and song pages. But I was planning to ask around for the FO1/FO2 location pages and think now it's probably better to switch it off there and let the people decide for themselves if they want to hear it. They click on the page to get information and not directly to hear a theme song. On the song page itself it can be set to autoplay in my opinon. People won't be surprised to hear it there on entering the page. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 11:50, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

Might be worth setting a multimedia policy that covers audio/video. Agent c (talk) 13:07, December 7, 2012 (UTC)

I support that. --Theodorico (talk) 01:02, December 8, 2012 (UTC)
I also think it's time. We've got lot's of folks using the template on their user and talk pages, too. I'm perfectly fine with the user pages having autoplay, but the autoplay on talk pages gets annoying too. I'd like to propose userpage use can be autoplay, but talk page use must not be. PS:I took mine off my own talk page. I annoyed myself with it. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 01:34, December 8, 2012 (UTC)
I made a switcher for youtube player and everyone is invited to try it. Just put this:
importScriptPage('User:Theodorico/ytSwitch.js', 'fallout');
into your personal common.js (may take a few page refreshes to start things working). If no major bugs will be found, i could turn it into a more pretty less ugly template, so we could use it site-wide. This could be one of possible solutions for would-be policy. --Theodorico (talk) 03:02, December 8, 2012 (UTC)
