Yello fellow dwellers of the Vault, it is I, Sacrphais, once again writing an application, this time asking for a place amongst our most revered administrators. Yes, I’ve decided upon finally taking the plunge and officially apply for adminship, for a number of reasons and some nagging.

As for me, I’ve had an account here since early February (I thought it was late February actually, shows how much I know…), but I didn’t actually start being seriously active in editing until the Achievement system kicked, being a simple blogpost lurker before then. Since then I’ve been on here most every day, bar a few, keeping constant vigilance over recent changes and keeping the chat pleasurable, both with my splendid company and, since I became a chat moderator, by keeping it safe from the evil of trolls and rule breakers alike.

Moving swiftly towards the point at hand; adminship (this time I’m certain that there’s supposed to be a “ship” in the word!). There’s a concrete reason or two as to why I’m applying. First of all my morning routines include browsing the Vault and fraternising with fellow editors in chat whilst enjoying my breakfast (most oftenly a sandwich and hot chocolate, if you’re interested), and I’m faced with an utterly frustrating situation. In the wee hours of the day, around 6am to 1pm (GMT +1), there’re, more often than not, no active administrators, leaving us in quite a pickle when any vandals happen to show up. Many times I’ve had to revert vandals for hours waiting for an admin to arrive. One time in particular, me, Mara and Gauzz fought an organised pack of vandals for two hours until help arrived. I happen to be on most of these hours, or at least I check in regularly multiple times during this time period, making me able to combat such malicious wrongdoers.

The reasons why (in a fancy bullet point list!)

  • This reason is probably the most used one, but that’s probably because there’s a kernel of truth behind it, and that is the tools. Having to hail an admin every time vandals are on the loose, a person is wildly trolling or insulting on a blogpost or a mischievous user is making bogus pages gets tiresome, and I can imagine that it gets equally tiresome coming on the Vault and constantly seeing “Ban this user” or “Kick this troll” on one’s talk page.
  • I’m well aware of the Wiki’s guidelines, and I try to edit the Vault’s articles so that they may adhere to them, be it strategy, faulty capitalisation or the article’s sections being in the wrong order.
  • I’m active in hours of the day when we lack active admins, making the wiki vulnerable of vandalism and such nonsense.

Contributions

There should have been a list of this user's edit counts here, but the edit counts feature is no longer available.

Major contributions

I’m not sure of how “‘’major’’” some of these are, but here they are.

  1. Yet again, my activity. Fleetingly active from 6am to 4pm, active from there until I go to bed (with the exception of Saturdays, PnP night!). I am also active in both chat and on major blog posts, keeping a watchful eye (and getting in the occasional heated canon debate).
  2. Splitting many consumable pages and making disambiguation pages for them, in keeping with Wiki article guidelines. Would’ve split more if Jspoel hadn’t had the Quick Draw perk. Damn he’s fast o.0
  3. Wikifying a lot of Fallout 3 armour pages that had been forgotten and had fallen into darkness.

Games

  • Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game.
  • Fallout 2: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game.
  • Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel (barely played, though).
  • Fallout 3.
  • Fallout: New Vegas.

Who exactly am I, then...?

To begin with, I am strongly opinionated, have no doubt about it, and I'm not the first one to back out of a debate. I am, however, not so proud as to never back down, and I know fully well when to concede the argument. I am active on the different debates around the Vault, and I always pick the winning side try to stay as objective as possible, and I try to be as polite as possible. I am very passionate about role playing games, the canon of my favourite role playing games, as well as role applying elements (yeah, RPG nerd, I know). I also try to give new editors a helpful push in the right direction (we've all been new here, and we experienced editors are scary as hell). I’d also like to note that my cuddliness has not diminished at all since my moderator application. I am, in fact, even cuddlier :3
