Forums: Index > Administrative consensus > Administrative consensus - Discord politics ban

Hi everyone! Following on from the recent vote we had which involved publicizing the deliberations of an administrative decree, this forum is a publication of the first decision we've made since then.

After discussion, the administrative team has decided to implement a ban on the discussion of real-world politics in the Discord server as follows:

Discussion of real-world politics is prohibited. However, users will retain the right to express their sexual, gender, ethnic, and religious etc. identities provided that this adheres to the rest of our policies.— Decreed Nukapedia Discord Rule No.9

This will serve as a replacement of the previous Rule No.9 which reads as follows:

Discuss real world events and politics with respect for your fellow users. If a topic is disruptive, moderators may take action. This may include asking to end the topic, creating a new temporary room, or other actions. Users may request moderator to act at any time, but this should not be used as a tool to "win" discussions. Moderators are expected not to stop discussions they're involved in. If disagreement occurs, simple majority decides the outcome.— Replaced Nukapedia Discord Rule No.9

The decreed Rule No.9 rule will continue to apply in regard to Rule No.19, which relates to the use of voice chat, and reads as follows:

A moderator may take action as per rule 9. Participants should behave accordingly.— Nukapedia Discord Rule No.19

The purpose of this decree is to address the issues raised by Fandom in Jan 2025, which resulted in the unlinking of the Nukapedia Discord from the site. This ban will stay in place indefinitely, but may be revisited in the future if there is community demand for its removal.

While comments are welcome, I note that this is merely an announcement and publication of our decision. urbanange1 Maker's breath! 04:20, 2 June 2025 (UTC)
