The fallout 3 add on pack #2 is coming out next week (for me) and I've been thinking about reavers. Everyone hates them and from what I've heard they get a glitch and they are bitches to kill. I was thinking could I effectively survive a battle with a reaver(s) by 1st crippling its legs to slow it down, 2: take to its limbs with a railway rifle to screw it up more, 3: kite it and burn the bastard to hell with Nuka-grenades. First time I encountered a Reaver was in the Ark and Dove Resting Grounds in PL.... There were several swamp gouls, a glowing one or two, and one Reaver... only one... I had read (on the forum) that Reavers were some tough bastards and took a lot of punishment, so I decided to focus on him first, reasoning that the other ghouls were relatively negligible. I use a stealth boy to get in closer to the group (wasn't carrying my Chinese Stealth Armor), thinking to get a sneak critical with a plasma grenade, then switch to the dart gun to cripple the legs (as you had planned Lord Snip), and would finally finish him off with A3-21's plasma rifle. So I initiate the plan....... well my plasma grenade got a nice sneak critical on the Reaver, and took out a glowing one nearby, but did surprisingly little damage to the Reaver. I'm thinking, "Oh, shit!" I proceed to cripple the Reaver's legs, as the other ghouls are charging, but I must say that it did not slow the Reaver down very much... So I am running backwards emptying my Xuanlong (which does 89 damage) into this thing as it is running at me on crippled legs, and throwing this radioactive paste at me (similar to what the Centaurs throw), and finally manage to kill the damn thing. So honestly, I would forget about step 2, and just cripple the legs, then go for head shots with something that has a high critical like Lincoln's or if you have "Concentrated Fire" use an assault rifle like Xuanlong or the Perforator. Nothing fancy with these guys, just kill them and kill them quickly, because if you let them get close to you they will eat you alive.
The most I ever encountered at one time was in the Museum of History (thankfully I had Fawkes with me), because there were three of them all at once in a narrow corridor... and even Fawkes took some time to bring them down. Cheers! 128.158.1.166 12:14, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Looks like I'm going to have to stock up on even more ammunition as I don't plan to rely on followers. Now, after reading those comments,how does this sound? #1 activate a stealth boy(which I have plenty of) #2 sneak attack with something big (Nuka-grenade?) #3when It notices me cripple legs, run and hide while placing bottle cap mines #4 when it nears screw its day up with Eugene or Vengeance (or both) #5 after the victory look behind me to see the other reaver. RUN THEN HIDE OR IF YOU SPOT IT NUKE IT. but seriously i encountered a large group of Ghouls today south of Tennpeny tower about 3 normal ferals a roamer or two one glowing one then out of no where a Reaver hits me with its radioactive goo and i am always above 400 rads for the rad. Regen perk so i get a heavy dose of radiation and it take half my life away with dogmeat and charon hitting the thing i ended up having to switch from my favorite weapon the Powerfist to my Flamer and send the rotting worm farm back to hell as Ceberus would say so my solution is Burn baby BurnAntily3f 02:34, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

THE REAVER SOLUTION
I found an ace way to kill these things INSTANTLY simply get about 3 of them bottlecap mines and get the fucker to run over em its kills it straight of prob solved--Hellfire soldier
