Hi everybody,

I would like to know where to find a better armor for stealthy jobs.

Now i'm level 13 and i'm still wearing this kind of armor http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Wasteland_Wanderer_Outfit.

Super mutants chew me up with their chain guns. Should i obtain a power armor and use while i'm in the openfield? I have to say i'm using small guns so no heavy weps. The agi stat is reduced by 2 while wearing the Power armor. So, what should i do?

Thanks in advance!

For stealth you cannot really beat the Recon Armour : http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Recon_Armor

Then again for stealth i would go for either :

or

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Shady_Hat

So no you do not have to move up to power armor ! But seen as you are sticking with small guns this armour may benifit you more : http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ranger_Battle_Armor

As a side note, aside from the Tesla Power Armor and T-51b Power Armor, all the other Power Armor decrease your Agility which will affect your Small Arms skill as well as the amounts of AP you have in VATS. This can be critical in a fire fight. You can readily find Recon Armor which gives you +5 Sneak coupled with the other bits other people have mentioned will help you out a lot. Assuming you are getting them through normal game play.

I would like to thank you for you answers.

My only doubt is about the weight of the various armors you have showed me. In my opinion the are too heavy. I have not taken a talon armor only because its weight.

Is weight such a determinant variable for stealthy jobs? Should i use these armors only when i'm in the open and go for lightweight armors during dungeon exploring?

Thank you again.

Personally, I use Ranger Battle Armor on my stealthy characters, and I haven't had any problem at all. In fact, there have been times where I've been sitting motionless in the shadows and a Super Mutant has literally BUMPED INTO ME while running after my follower, and he never even noticed me. I mean, he literally ran into me and pushed me backwards and I remained hidden. Granted, this is at extremely high levels of Stealth while motionless and in the shadows, but still... Ranger Battle Armor seems to be sneaky enough for me. And the extra Damage Resistance is oh so nice (as is the extra point of luck, the extra small guns skills, and the extra AP points). PS. I have read all around that luck is a very important stat. I have chosen the perk that adds +5 luck, but it's only for lethal attacks. What kind of special encounters could you face if you have an high luck value?

Luck is important because it boosts all of your skills by a half point per level, making it the most effective skill boosting stat (2 points of Luck gets you 13 extra skill points, compared to 12 extra from Perception and Intelligence, 8 extra from Agility, Charisma, and Endurance, and a meager 4 extra from Strength). It also boosts your chance of getting a critical hit (bonus damage) by 1% per level of luck (the perk you're referring to is Finesse, which doesn't give you the skill boost, it just gives you an extra 5% chance of critical hit). Other than that, all the encounters you get with low luck are the same as the encounters you get with high luck, you just are more likely to get some encounters with high luck than you are with low (you can get them no matter what your luck is, it's just easier with high luck). I have also messed up with perks. I have chosen the commando and sniper perks. Are they really effective or they are totally useless? I have seen no change in accuracy on ranges.

Another doubt then i end it here. I have a 100 in small arms. Could i break through this value with bonuses given by armors/weapons or it's like the level of your character, that couldn't be higher than 20? --Play me Again 03:39, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Commando and Sniper are both great perks. They don't make a HUGE difference because they're multiplicative rather than additive, but they do make a difference. Commando multiplies your chance to hit by 1.25. Sniper multiplies your chance to hit the head by a further 1.25. If you have a 50% chance to hit someone's head, with Sniper and Commando that chance will become 78%- a very nice boost indeed. The problem is at very long ranges, where you might only have a 15% chance to hit to begin with. With Sniper and Commando, that 15% chance to hit only becomes a 23% chance to hit- still not great odds. Still, both perks are exceptional and highly recommended, especially at middle ranges. You really shouldn't be using VATS at very long ranges, anyway- either use free aim with an exceptionally accurate weapon (Sniper Rifle, Dart Gun, Laser Rifle, Hunting Rifle), or else use Sneak to get closer before firing. As for your small arms... no, there's no way to increase any skill past 100. Some Sort 04:50, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

if your worried about weight, just bring your standard combat armor with you as well as one armor that gives you sneak or has agility bonus. you carry less things, but if you manage to clear the area, you can always comeback and take the things that you couldn't before.

Listen, the only good thing about stealth is:

A) The Criticals = in stealth mode, your first attack is confirmed critical damage and you get bonus if the target dies. This is one good reason to carry a hunting rifle, sniper rifle or any weapon you are confident in a complete hit. Even weapons like the combat shotgun(close range) or grenade's used in sneak mode will most definitely kill the target first time around, with practice maybe even multiple targets can be killed with a precisely thrown grenade. if you get discovered, cause the target didn't die, hope there is some sort of obstacle to hide until your status returns to hidden, then you can finish the job again.(it's best view in third-person view for how much an object is hiding you. and allows you to "sneak peek" with the camera as well.)

Note: Successfully killing something in sneak mode, doesn't change your hidden status into danger, just caution, which still allows you to return to hidden (unless you miss or the target survives), if your smart enough to lure a single enemy from a group (e.g raiders) and kill them one-by-one while hidden (either by shotgun or scoped magnum for confirmed kill), without them screaming for aid, mostly likely using VATS helps (having you commando and sniper perks work for you here.), your status will most likely keep you caution, and maybe lure another fool in your trap (remember to wait for you status to return to hidden before attacking), the living are unaware of the dead, and won't notice a mountain of bodies in front of them. even hiding near a door and waiting for a humanoid or mutant to walk trough his route and catching him off guard will mostly likely allow a sneak kill.

Tip: Super mutants are tough, and usually survive most of anything you hit them with first try, unless you have really high crits or a strong weapon. shooting them in the head is best, why? becuase unlike humans and ghouls, super mutants have HUGE heads, hitting them there is somewhat easier and may cause them to get stunned for a sec allowing you to shoot the weapons away or get a closer for a clearer shot. and don't fear the mini-gun, the accuracy for that weapon won't make a difference if your standing in his face, try to lure him closer you if your worried about damage, force him into melee.

B) Theft = good stealth means being undetected from everyone eyes, weather it's day or night, the higher your stealth the easier it is to be stealth, that means the easier it to to return to hidden mode after being discovered. In terms of stealing, even in broad daylight, hiding in a corner or just following someone can keep you hidden. making it easier to steal objects or items without notice. just remember to quick save before doing anything, nothing is confirmed and some one can spot you, even if you can't spot him.
