You've learned to discover the Wasteland's hidden wealth, and find more bottle caps in containers.— Perk description

Fortune Finder is a Luck perk in Fallout 4.

Effects[]

Taking ranks of this perk grants an increased chance to find bottlecaps more frequently in various containers other than steamer trunks and dead enemies. Higher ranks increase the amount spawned as well as grant a chance for causing a shower of lootable caps when killing an enemy.

Ranks[]

Rank Requirements Description Form ID
1 LCK 1 You've learned to discover the Wasteland's hidden wealth, and find more bottle caps in containers. 0004C942
2 LCK 1, LVL 5 You find even more bottle caps in containers. 001ACF98
3 LCK 1, LVL 25 You find even more bottle caps in containers. 001ACF99
4 LCK 1, LVL 40 You find even more bottle caps in containers, and there is a chance of enemies exploding into a shower of caps when you kill them. 00215CD4

Rank 4 grants a 7% chance for the killing hit to explode an enemy into caps.

Notes[]

  • This perk works well alongside Scrounger, allowing for additional caps as well as additional ammo that can be sold for even more caps if not already in use.
  • Each rank allows for additional caps to be found in containers. Smaller amounts are added to containers such as cabinets, file cabinets, desks, suitcases, or trash cans. Larger amounts are added to all variants of safes, duffle bags, steamer and industrial trunks.
  • Rank 1 provides a 40% chance to spawn caps from eligible containers, rank 2 a 70% chance and rank 3 a 100% chance. Rank 4 has no effect on the chances or the amount of items added, its perk description is incorrect.[verified]
  • Whenever the shower-of-caps effect is triggered upon killing an enemy, an animated Vault Boy is displayed on the screen, along with an audio clue. The amount of caps dispersed around the remains of an enemy is about 15 to 30. Any cap can be interacted with in order to collect them all for a particular enemy.
  • The tier 4 cap-showers are referred to as "Money Shots" in the records section of the Pip-Boy.
  • The sound playing when an enemy explodes into caps is that of a detonating bottlecap mine.
  • Enemies killed by the Mysterious Stranger perk can also activate the caps explosion. This is because kills made by the stranger are attributed to the player.
  • It may be difficult to spot the caps at times, depending on the number of enemies fought and the terrain.
  • Multiple enemies exploding into caps at the same time or in rapid succession may have a negative impact on the game's framerate.
