Behind the scenes[]
Fort Steuben is based on the real-world historical fort of the same name, built in 1787 to protect settlers of the Northwest Territory. The original fort was destroyed by a fire in 1790, but the city of Steubenville, Ohio, in Jefferson County was built on top of the same site, and a recreation of the fort was built for historical purposes.
