The fire axe is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics

The fire axe is a wooden handled axe with a heavy steel head intended for firefighting use. It has a broad finely sharpened front blade and a sharp pick point on the rear of the head. The long hardwood handle allows for sweeping attacks at reasonable distance and is partially rubber coated to ensure a good grip on the weapon. Originally designed for breaking down walls and doors, this weapon can inflict severe damage to a soft target.

Special attack

It has a special Mauler attack, which does 50% damage in V.A.T.S. at the cost of 5 more action points, but has a chance to knock down enemies (requires a Melee skill of 50).

It is possible to execute Mauler outside of V.A.T.S. (without the required Melee skill of 50 to perform the move) by initiating a power attack (hold attack button) while moving forward.

Durability

The fire axe can successfully strike about 995 times from full condition before breaking.

  • If the player character dismembers an opponent, the fire axe will have a blood stain on the blade, which will disappear in a matter of seconds.

Bugs

  • Icon pc.png This weapon and its unique variant "Knock-Knock" can perform the spinning power attack but only deal damage to one target. [verified]
