Boston City Works Beacon is a radio station in Fallout 4. It can be picked up after extending the satellites at relay tower 1DL-109. It is a recorded message from a trapped employee in an operations building, to a slothful (and supposedly unhygienic) colleague named Spiegel.

Transcript[]

Okay, looks like a reactor malfunction in sublevel D. System locked the gates down. Again. I guess I'm gonna need a manual override. Look, Speigel: I know you've got pressing matters like reading that latest copy of La CoifIn-game spelling, punctuation and/or grammar to attend to. But when you find time, let me out, okay? Meanwhile I guess I'll loop this thing and have a smoke. Which is probably what you're doing up there, you lazy skeezer. This has been a pre-recorded message. Message repeats in three seconds.

Location[]

The origin of the signal is a ham radio in the reactor level of an operations building. It is directly to the west of the relay tower on a dam and can be recognized by its blue door. The first room of the building holds little of interest except for a wooden crate next to the entrance, but in the back of the room is a hatch leading to the caved-in reactor level behind some cardboard boxes. The ham radio can be found directly to the left at the reactor level. There are no skeletons or bodies inside the building, leaving the employee's fate unknown.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 This signal and the nearby distress signal and garbled radio beacon may not turn off when their original ham radios are turned off by the player. Leaving and re-entering the area may resolve this.[verified]
    • Reactivating the nearby Relay tower 1DL-109 (twice) resolves the issue.
  • PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 At the Locks, the deep water is not registering as water, causing damage to be taken if jumping off the lock doors into the water. The player will hear a sound as if underwater but is unable to swim, nor takes radiation damage, and will be able to use weapons as if the player is on dry land. Moving underwater towards Forest Grove marsh the player will enter "real" water and start taking radiation damage and start swimming.[verified]
