About
  +
The Nukapedia Discord is a server dedicated to the Fallout wiki and its community. Moderators are dedicated to maintaining a positive and inclusive environment with a strict zero toxicity policy at all times. Below are all official and affiliate servers.
Grounds for blocking
Users who are clearly disruptive to the chat or who fail to behave appropriately towards other contributors may be blocked. The possible reasons for blocking include (but are not limited to):

# Personal attacks, harassment, sexual harassment, insults or bullying.

# Racial bigotry, sexually degrading language, or other hate speech.

# Extreme use of profanity/cursing or directing it towards another user is not permitted.

# Violation of personal privacy. This includes revealing personal information about users (e.g. real name, location, age, gender, etc) and violating confidentiality on particular issues (such as issues asked to be kept confidential by other users or administrators).

# Linking to external sources, such as websites, which violate the aforementioned rules. Notably, publicly linking to websites such as Facebook or MySpace that violate personal privacy, is not permitted without prior consent from the user whose privacy might be violated.

# Trolling or general irritation or disruption of other users. This often includes, but is not limited to; excessive usage of capital letters, punctuation marks, deliberate distortions of the English language (such as "1337" or "Dolan" speak), and excessive usage of languages other than English. Making arrangements to troll or otherwise disrupt another chat room or service is not permitted in our chatroom. This does not prevent you from joining another chatroom, linking another chatroom, or encouraging others to visit if the topic of conversation is likely to be of interest.

# Being a dick. As a guideline, don't go out of your way to irritate others. (And especially do not try to test the admin's and/or chat moderator's patience and/or limits.) Vicious abuse is grounds for sanctions.

# Whining. Users who ask for something from another chat user and are refused it should not stoop to complaining. It is acceptable to be persistent, but in a mature manner.

# Discussion of real world issues and events is generally permitted. However, before raising any of these points or joining a discussion on these you should remember that your fellow chatters may hold strong views in these areas. Where a particular subject appears to be causing distress, offense, or is otherwise disrupting the ability for others to enjoy chat, a moderator at their discretion may direct that a conversation either be closed or moved into private chat. This may be done either by request to a mod, or by the mod's own initiative, when those factors are present. In the event of mods disagreeing to end a discussion, the decision to ends takes precedence unless there are more active mods who disagree with the decision than agree. Moderators should avoid closing discussions outside of a publicly made request when they are involved in the discussion (unless they are the only active mod).

# Spamming. The meaning should be obvious. Don't say the same thing six times because no one is responding to you. Don't keep yammering on about a subject nobody cares about. Meaningless and/or random posts can also be considered spam, alongside disruptive internet memes.

Caps
  +
{| class="va-table va-table-center "style="width: 75%;"
The usage of capital letters and caps lock is frowned upon. Using capital letters to write a word or a whole entry is typically perceived as yelling.

  +
|-
Using excessive capital letters once will often result in a courtesy warning by an administrator or chat moderator, and persistent usage of capital letters may lead to a kick or ban, depending on severity.

Roles
Topics of discussion
  +
The Nukapedia Discord members are organized into several roles. Non-vanity roles are outlined below.
Off-topic discussions are allowed and are the norm. Discussion is not limited to the Fallout series, and users should not demand a change in subject matter as this may constitute disrupting chat.

{| class="va-table va-table-center "style="width: 60%;"

Bots
  +
! Staff
Any user wishing to bring a bot into the channel should seek approval from an administrator or chat moderator. Unauthorized or malicious bots are prohibited and are to be immediately kicked and banned.

Consequences
  +
|style="height: 3em;"|Bureaucrat
Moderators have a wide discretion relating to the issuing of warnings and bans which infringe on these rules.

  +
| style='background: #6773df;'|

The content of messages will greatly impact on the severity of the punishment. In certain particular cases, exceptions may be permitted, although these are infrequent.

| style='background: #5894c4;'|

Typically, the following hierarchy will apply to infringements on the above regulations (with the exception of specifically implied consequences).

| style='background: #ea1e65;'|

Following this, the block duration is usually:

|style="height: 3em;"|Discussions Moderator
* Three days for the first offense

  +
|yes
* One week for the second offense

  +
| style='background: #146c39;'|
* One month for the third offense

* Any additional offenses may result in a permanent ban.

  +
|-
These are just guidelines for usual cases. Blocks and their duration are generally up to the discretion of Nukapedia's administrators and chat moderators.

  +
|style="height: 3em;"|Patroller
  +
|yes
  +
| style='background: #a5ffd7;'|

Further offenses will result in an extended ban, at the discretion of the administrator or chat moderator administering the ban.

  +
|style="height: 3em;"|Wiki Rep
  +
|neutral
  +
| style='background: #9ae06b;'|

  +
|-
Administrators and chat moderators use their discretion when applying these rules, and understanding of the rules depends on the moderator's perception of the rules. Particular exceptions may be granted by specific administrator or chat moderator approval. These rules and regulations, however, should be followed strictly by users at all other times.

Moderators are reminded that they have the freedom to deal with situations with a less firm hand if required... If someone intends a bit of good humour, realises their mistake, and apologises, there may be no need for a kick or ban if the moderator feels the apology is genuine and the lesson has been learned

Verification
  +
There are three levels of general users, roles including Vault Dweller, SAFE test, and Nukapedian. Channel access is dependent on these verifications, and can be completed in #the-vault-door channel, where one will find instructions on how to do so. Fallout Wiki activity is required to maintain the Nukapedian role and users who have been inactive for longer than 30 days are subject to removal. In either case, users may rejoin and/or reverify at any time.
  +
  +
Rules
  +
The conduct guidelines below detail expectations for all interactions, are not exhaustive, and are in addition to both Discord Guidelines and Terms of Service.
  +
  +
Conduct
  +
:1. Discussions must be kept within their dedicated channels. If a topic goes off topic, suggest or follow suggestions to move the conversation to appropriate channels.
  +
:2. If an interaction becomes too acrimonious, ping or message any staff member. If a staff member indicates a conversation should end, respect their decision.
  +
:3. Rules listed here are in addition to those listed in Discord Terms of Service but do not fall under listed services of Fandom Terms of Use. However, blocks that are put in place on the Fallout Wiki will mirror to Discord bans. The decision to mirror a Discord ban on the Fallout Wiki as a block is at administrator discretion.
  +
:4. Using alt accounts to bypass Discord bans or Fallout Wiki blocks is considered ban evasion and is not allowed.
  +
:5. Be civil and courteous to other users on the server. Do not engage in personal attacks, hate speech, harassment, threats, or sexually degrading language. Do not spam, excessively use capital letters, or ping others repetitively. NSFW content is not allowed and will be removed.
  +
:6. Do not reveal personally identifiable information about users or violate confidentiality on issues asked to be kept confidential by other users or administrators. This includes linking to external sources such as social media accounts.
  +
:7. Users are allowed to delete or edit their own posts, but disruptive or misrepresentative alteration or removal of information is not allowed.
  +
:8. Participation in this server assumes understanding and acceptance of rules.
  +
  +
Voice chat and bots
  +
:9. Voice channels can be used freely by everyone and follow the same rules as chat, including prohibition of topics outlined above. Take turns speaking and avoid talking over others. If you wish to participate in the voice channel, related text conversation should take place in the #intercom-transcripts channel.
  +
:10. Bots are present in the server for moderation purposes. Bots and related images should only be used sparingly outside the #robot-repair-center and #the-big-empty, with the exception of the wiki-bot, which can be used in related channels. Any user wishing for or to bring a bot into the server must gain approval from an administrator.
  +
  +
Hall of debate
  +
:11. All potentially contentious subject matter is allowed only in the #hall-of-debate channel, which requires a staff sponsorship. Reach out to a staff member for this role. Topics restricted to this channel include, but are not limited to, those of religion, politics, and divisive history.
  +
  +
User/nicknames
  +
:12. Server nicknames do not have to match Fallout Wiki usernames, with the exception of administrators and bureaucrats. These staff members may alternatively identify their wiki username in their about me, as long as it is visible to users. Nicknames cannot consist of content that would otherwise violate server rules, nor can they mirror that of a staff member. Staff impersonation in any form is not allowed.
  +
  +
Moderation
  +
Moderation of the server is the responsibility of members listed here. Bans and their duration are at the discretion of staff.
  +
  +
Duration
  +
* First offense: Warning
  +
* Second offense: Kick
  +
* Third offense: Three day ban
  +
* Fourth: One week ban
  +
* Fifth: One month ban
  +
* Subsequent: Permanent ban
  +
  +
Log
  +
Staff members are responsible for updating the moderation log at the time of enforcement and upon expiry, as applicable. Wiki-side blocks are mirrored to Discord bans, and any actions mirrored wiki side must also be communicated on the user's talk page by the acting moderator, explaining rationale and duration. Those without a Fallout Wiki account should also be noted. Staff must also summarily remove moderation actions placed as appropriate.
  +
  +
Chat mentees
  +
Temporary rights are routinely given to mentees as part of the Vault Academy chat moderator training program. The rights are granted in seven day increments, progress of which is documented and overseen by their mentor. They are differentiated by a unique color and role underneath the chat moderator role. They have the same permissions as a chat moderator and function in the same way, with the added level of required engagement with their mentor before administrative action, barring instances of blatant misconduct.

1Hall of Debate requires access role granted via staff sponsorship in addition to SAFE test level permissions. More information available below.
2Nukapedians have read-only access. Rights holders have read and write access.

Verification

There are three levels of general users, roles including Vault Dweller, SAFE test, and Nukapedian. Channel access is dependent on these verifications, and can be completed in #the-vault-door channel, where one will find instructions on how to do so. Fallout Wiki activity is required to maintain the Nukapedian role and users who have been inactive for longer than 30 days are subject to removal. In either case, users may rejoin and/or reverify at any time.

Rules

The conduct guidelines below detail expectations for all interactions, are not exhaustive, and are in addition to both Discord Guidelines and Terms of Service.

Conduct

1. Discussions must be kept within their dedicated channels. If a topic goes off topic, suggest or follow suggestions to move the conversation to appropriate channels.
2. If an interaction becomes too acrimonious, ping or message any staff member. If a staff member indicates a conversation should end, respect their decision.
4. Using alt accounts to bypass Discord bans or Fallout Wiki blocks is considered ban evasion and is not allowed.
5. Be civil and courteous to other users on the server. Do not engage in personal attacks, hate speech, harassment, threats, or sexually degrading language. Do not spam, excessively use capital letters, or ping others repetitively. NSFW content is not allowed and will be removed.
6. Do not reveal personally identifiable information about users or violate confidentiality on issues asked to be kept confidential by other users or administrators. This includes linking to external sources such as social media accounts.
7. Users are allowed to delete or edit their own posts, but disruptive or misrepresentative alteration or removal of information is not allowed.
8. Participation in this server assumes understanding and acceptance of rules.

Voice chat and bots

9. Voice channels can be used freely by everyone and follow the same rules as chat, including prohibition of topics outlined above. Take turns speaking and avoid talking over others. If you wish to participate in the voice channel, related text conversation should take place in the #intercom-transcripts channel.

Hall of debate

11. All potentially contentious subject matter is allowed only in the #hall-of-debate channel, which requires a staff sponsorship. Reach out to a staff member for this role. Topics restricted to this channel include, but are not limited to, those of religion, politics, and divisive history.

User/nicknames

Moderation

Moderation of the server is the responsibility of members listed here. Bans and their duration are at the discretion of staff.

Duration

 • First offense: Warning
 • Second offense: Kick
 • Third offense: Three day ban
 • Fourth: One week ban
 • Fifth: One month ban
 • Subsequent: Permanent ban

Log

Staff members are responsible for updating the moderation log at the time of enforcement and upon expiry, as applicable. Wiki-side blocks are mirrored to Discord bans, and any actions mirrored wiki side must also be communicated on the user's talk page by the acting moderator, explaining rationale and duration. Those without a Fallout Wiki account should also be noted. Staff must also summarily remove moderation actions placed as appropriate.

Chat mentees

Temporary rights are routinely given to mentees as part of the Vault Academy chat moderator training program. The rights are granted in seven day increments, progress of which is documented and overseen by their mentor. They are differentiated by a unique color and role underneath the chat moderator role. They have the same permissions as a chat moderator and function in the same way, with the added level of required engagement with their mentor before administrative action, barring instances of blatant misconduct.
