Infobox and categories
A few additional pointers regarding the applicable infobox and categories:
- The applicable infobox for location pages is
{{Infobox location}}
. For details on its usage, please refer to the template page itself. - A location page is only categorized in one category. The category depends on the game it appears in (e.g. Category:Fallout 2 locations). A further distinction should be made if it is an unmarked location, i.e. a location which does not have a marker on the world map (e.g. Category:Fallout 3 unmarked locations).
Location article layout
There are two standard layouts for locations: one for settlements or districts of large settlements and one for all other locations.
Each layout is composed of three tables. The top and bottom tables are standard layout items found in every article; they are only included here for completeness and are collapsed by default. The middle table contains the actual specifics for location pages.
- in the "headline" column means that the article should have a headline of that name if you want to include such a layout item.
in the "headline" column means that this layout item should not have a headline. - in the "required" column means that every location article should include this layout item.
in the "required" column means that not every location article needs to include this layout item. - "Zone" refers to an enclosed portion of the location. In Fallout 3, this corresponds to cells.
Standard layout
This is the layout for all locations except settlements or districts thereof.

Page management boxes | Page management templates are used if you notice that something is out of order with a certain article or section and want to bring it to the attention of other editors or administrators. If the issue affects the whole article, these boxes should be placed at the very top of an article; if only a section is affected, they should be placed just below the headline of the respective section. Project tags | Projects are joint efforts of editors who work together to improve a set of articles that cover a certain area of interest. Some of these projects have tags or boxes which are placed on the pages which the project affects; these should be placed below the article management boxes. | ||
"For" template | {{for}} is used to make a reader aware of other articles they may have been looking for when entering the title of the current page.

Infobox | The purpose of infoboxes is to summarize data relating to the article. Infoboxes should appear in the top-right corner of an article. For a list of infobox templates, please refer to template overview or directly to Category:Infobox templates. |

Layout | Describe the layout for each section: what it looks like, connections to the other sections, how many and what type of enemy can be found here. Make a subsection for each zone of the location, titled with the in-game name of the zone. Start with a section called "Exterior" where you describe the entrance area. The basic premise is that the section should give someone who has not seen the location an idea of what it looks like and how it is set up. | ||
Notable loot | List unique and rare loot here with a short description of where to find it. See notable loot policy for criteria requirements. | ||
Related quests | If there are quests which start or take place in this location, list them here (just link them, no need to go into detail). | ||
Notes | For interesting things about the location which do not fit into the other categories. Try to keep this section to a minimum. | ||
Appearances | Which games this location appears in. For Fallout 76 add the update in which the location was introduced, such as X appears in {{in FO76}} or with update {{in FO76|WL}}. |

They should be placed at the end of an article, just above the categories. The most article-specific navboxes should be highest and the least-specific lowest. A list of navboxes can be found in Category:Navbox templates. New navboxes can be constructed with {{Navbox}} .
