Fallout Wiki

Information

A rights user is a contributor who has been either appointed or elected by the community to serve the wiki in such a capacity, granted access to features utilized in article and community maintenance. User rights are not a reward for contributions nor a promotion to have more authority than others. There is no cap on the number of rights users.

Users who meet the requirements are not automatically granted additional tools, as access is dictated by the following guidelines. The conduct of users granted additional rights must align with expectations established in the administration policy. A record of all successful rights holder request forums can be found here.

General requirements

All requirements refer to the Fallout wiki, its discussion platform, and Nukapedia Discord server. For the minimums below, edits must be completed in the main, category, module, file, or template namespace. Bot commands, talk page, blog, and forum contributions do not count towards requirements. All applicants must understand the basics of editing, and be able to teach others how to accomplish basic edits. Users that have been site-blocked or chat-banned in the previous three months or have failed a user rights request in the previous three months are not eligible to apply.

Appointments

User rights roles including interwiki users and patrollers do not require a community discussion or vote and are granted by appointment. Users meeting requirements may request these rights via the talk page of a bureaucrat for interwiki or either bureaucrat or administrator for patroller. Users may also be proactively appointed. In cases of an administrator appointing a patroller, they must secure the approval of an additional administrator or bureaucrat.

Making the request

If you meet the requirements above and want to become an administrator, content, chat or discussions moderator, then you need to start a thread in Forum:User rights requests titled Chat Moderator Request – [your username] or Administrator Request - [your username]. In this thread, you should describe why you would like to become a moderator or admin and what your major contributions have been thus far.

For the position of discussions moderator, chat moderator, technical moderator and content moderator, you also need – in addition to other requirements – an endorsement from an active administrator or like moderator. This is as simple as having one of the aforementioned users openly support your prospect of applying and signing your application when it’s posted on the forum. An unsigned application for chat moderator will not be passed.

When your application has been posted, Nukapedia's community will be able to discuss whether or not you should be made moderator or admin over a timespan of at least one week (or more in case of controversy). All users who take part in any formal wiki vote are encouraged to post an at-least-basic rationale explaining why their vote was cast the way it is. In addition, administrators reserve the right to require voters' rationales for voting on certain polls, if and only if they feel a necessity. The final decision will be up to the bureaucrat(s) after the community has had its say.
