FO76 Loadouts screen

The perk loadout system is a feature in Fallout 76, introduced in the Locked & Loaded update.

Background[]

As of the Locked & Loaded update, players can customize multiple S.P.E.C.I.A.L. loadouts to use at separate times with their Vault Dweller during gameplay, allowing a larger variety of various perks and S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points to use in conversation with NPCs, combat, and more. Loadouts can be changed using a punch card machine.

Characteristics[]

Main article: Punch card machine

The machine works as the gatekeeper to the SPECIAL loadouts system. The machine utilizes the perk cards given to the player character during Reclamation Day, allowing management of perks. The machine has 10 slots marked "Perk" across a board, and a yellow drop box attached on the left. Only seven of the slots, one for each SPECIAL category, is occupied. Players can interact with punch card machines throughout Appalachia or build one in one's C.A.M.P.

Pre-made loadouts[]

There are also 5 premade character builds that can be selected at the start of the game, each one will automatically set your character at level 20 and start off with a build around a certain playstyle. The options are:

  • Commando - Assault Rifles
  • Slugger - Two-Handed Melee Weapons
  • Gunslinger - Pistols
  • Shotgunner - Shotguns
  • Specialist - VATS

Each one will automatically assign SPECIAL points and perk cards to fit each playstyle. Ammo for the loadout's preferred weapon type may also be encountered more often.

Notes[]

  • The first two loadout slots are free and enabled for all players.
  • A total of 13 additional loadout slots can be purchased for 500 Atomic Shop per unlocked slot in the Atomic Shop.
