Behind the scenes[]

  • According to Joshua Sawyer in a Formspring reply, due to Fallout: New Vegas's frenetic timetable for development at 18 months, Denise McMurry and Sydney Wolfram typically only had half a day to complete interior cells and a single day for exterior locations, going from block-outs and rough sculpts to a content complete stage.[Non-game 1]
  • Regarding the main settings of the game's add-ons, Joshua Sawyer stated in a 2020 livestream that the team was trying to be intentionally vague about where the locations actually are, excluding Dead Money. Given that Honest Hearts unambiguously takes place in Zion National Park, Sawyer may have been mistaken in saying Dead Money instead of Honest Hearts, as Dead Money never specifies where exactly the Sierra Madre is situated. This would, however, indicate that the specific locations of Big MT and the Divide were meant to be vague, as well.[Non-game 2]

  1. Joshua Sawyer Formspring posts/2012: "I always thought dungeons were important. We didn't have time to make enough of them at a high enough level of detail. Our secondary location world builders (Denise McMurry and Sydney Wolfram) had 1/2 day per interior location and 1 day per exterior location. That means everything, going from a blob of barely-sculpted, mono-textured landscape to something content complete. "
