This page lists all challenges that can be completed by the player character in Fallout: New Vegas and its add-ons.

Characteristics[]

After acquiring the Pip-Boy during Ain't That a Kick in the Head, the player character can find the list of challenges available to complete under Data > Misc > Challenges.

Upon completion of a challenge, varying amounts of XP are granted to the player character as well as some challenges granting unique passive perks.

Challenges are listed below with a description next to it as seen in the in-game Pip-Boy. Some challenges do not show up until progress has been made (e.g. A Little Critical only shows up after one has scored at least one critical hit with a one-handed firearm). Many challenges are not available until a prior one of the same general type has been completed; for example, completing Energetic unlocks More Energetic, Set Lasers for Fun, Beam (Weapon) Me Up, and You'll Blind Somebody, and then completing More Energetic unlocks Critical Reaction, and Let's Get Critical.

Different challenges can be completed either once, three times for increasing levels of a special perk, or repeated an unlimited number of times. Upon completing a challenge, a sound is heard similar to the one that played during a level-up in Fallout and in Fallout 2.

Damage challenges[]

Challenges in this category typically require the player character to attack and injure/kill enemies using specific weapon types or combat mechanics e.g. crippling limbs, Critical Hits, etc.
