Ezra Parker was the owner and financier of the pre-War Cliff's Edge Hotel on Mount Desert Island, later becoming a Robobrain resident of Vault 118 until he was mysteriously murdered. He appears in the Fallout 4 add-on Far Harbor.
Background[]
Pre-War[]
According to various exhibits within the Vault, Ezra was allegedly a business tycoon with worldwide renown in the era before the bombs due to events such as preventing the assassination of a viscount by shielding him from an assassin's bullet,[1] funding and directing the construction of a hospital in Venezuela,[2] and once being engaged to Dame Petra Horvath until she was tragically killed in a car accident a month before their wedding.[3] However, it is indicated that at least one of these events was a complete fabrication. In reality, Ezra was a conniving con man, and by late 2077 had concocted his latest scheme to present himself as the owner and financier of the Cliff's Edge Hotel. With the involvement of other investors such as the wealthy heiress Julianna Riggs and the Vault-Tec Corporation, he started the construction of Vault 118 beneath the hotel, secretly intending to scam his benefactors and make off with a massive personal profit.
Through their arrangement with Ezra, Vault-Tec designed the underground bunker with a social experiment intending to analyze the cultural divide between ultra-wealthy residents and those from working-class backgrounds in a controlled environment.[4] However, after the premier wing of the Vault was built, Ezra put his plan into action and ceased payments for the construction, which was quickly halted. Ezra informed the Vault's overseer that he was still waiting for Julianna to transfer the funds, when in reality the con man was actually embezzling the money, a fact the overseer began to suspect when Julianna told him she had already paid the money to Ezra.[5]
Life in Vault 118[]
Ezra's scheme inadvertently resulted in the premier wing of the Vault being the only fully complete section when the Great War struck. Ezra, Julianna, and other affluent guests in the hotel were able to be admitted inside the Vault, complete with their cars, luggage, and pets, while the intended working-class residents were denied entry and left outside to die.[6]
A short time before the bombs, resident Bert Riggs, a former lead developer of the Robobrain project for General Atomics International, came to the conclusion that the best way to ensure the wealthy residents' long-term survival was for them to undergo the procedure to transfer their brains from their human bodies into Robobrain chassis, an idea that they all accepted, including Ezra.[7][8] Subsequently, due to the uniform design of their new bodies, they all decided to include a small accessory that they always wore as a means to distinguish each other. Ezra chose a striped, blue tie.
For the next two centuries, Ezra and the other dwellers lived comfortably in Vault 118, none of them any wiser to his gradual and continued siphoning of their fortunes for himself. However, around late 2287, Julianna managed to enter the long-dead overseer's office, where she found the terminal containing evidence of Ezra's intentions to embezzle the money that she and the others invested. After Ezra discovered this, he had the office locked and fabricated a story about it being "unsafe" to keep others from looking closer.[9]
The truth[]
Ezra Parker disguised as Julianna Riggs to escape justice
When she failed to convince her husband about what she found,[10] Julianna confronted Ezra directly with her suspicions. Realizing that Julianna was dangerously close to exposing his entire scheme, Ezra decided to kill her several days after their argument by using Keith McKinney's baseball bat to smash her brain casing. Ezra claims this was done out of necessity, as he had planned to continue his embezzlement for as long as possible. He subsequently planned to avoid detection by impersonating the deceased Julianna via swapping accessories and changing his chassis' voice module to sound like her, then spreading misinformation on the other residents.[11] He intended to steal one last amount of money before escaping and disappearing with his accrued fortune.[12]
Despite Ezra's seeming success at a perfect disguise, a lifetime spent with his wife allowed Bert to figure out that something had happened to her, and that the Robobrain claiming to be Julianna was an imposter.[13]

- ↑ The Sole Survivor: "Your residents are robots?"
Maxwell: "Not robots, Detective. Well not exactly anyway. I believe the term they use is Robobrain. Back before the war, the residents decided the best way to wait it out was to put their brains inside robotic chassis."
(Maxwell's dialogue) - ↑ The Sole Survivor: "The door to the overseer's office is locked."
Maxwell: "Oh yes, Mr. Parker locked it a while back after finding out that one of the other residents had been inside. Said it wasn't safe. If the key isn't on him, it's probably in Mr. Parker's room. Was there anything else?"
(Maxwell's dialogue) - ↑ The Sole Survivor: "I heard that Julianna and Ezra had an argument a few days before he was found dead. Tell me about that."
Bert Riggs: "Well, I was in my lab at the time so I didn't hear it, but Julianna has always been rather critical of Mr. Parker. I think she found something in the overseer's office... I wasn't listening when she told me about it. I kind of had my head in my research. I don't know really. I try to let her handle all the money stuff."
(Bert Riggs' dialogue) - ↑ Julianna Riggs: "Hello Detective. Did you have a question about the heinous murder?"
The Sole Survivor: "Did you have any thoughts about the murder?"
Juliana Riggs: "If you ask me, it's one of those actors. Or that horrible painter. Their type is always the cause of violence."
(Ezra Parker's dialogue (disguised as Julianna Riggs)) - ↑ The Sole Survivor: "I think you're the real murderer."
Ezra Parker: "That's just silly, Detective. Why would I want to kill Mr. Parker?"
The Sole Survivor: "Maybe you can give me a reason it couldn't be you."
Ezra Parker: "I'm sick all the time, Detective. I don't have the strength to do such a thing."
The Sole Survivor: "Ezra was embezzling your money. That's why you killed him and framed Keith."
Ezra Parker: "You were so close, Detective. It's a shame, I thought I could keep the ruse going a little longer. Ah well, had to end eventually I suppose. This doesn't have to end in more violence, Detective. Just, walk away. I'll leave and you can tell them I escaped."
The Sole Survivor: "Why did you kill Julianna?"
Ezra Parker: "I hadn't planned on it, but Julianna figured out what I was doing and had to be dealt with swiftly. I thought I could get a bit more money out of this place before making my escape. What's it going to be, Detective. Join me in getting rich or die defending some outdated ideals?"
(Ezra Parker's dialogue) - ↑ The Sole Survivor: "What do you mean, Julianna's not the same person?"
Bert Riggs: "My wife has always been a very harsh woman, Detective. I don't know who it is in our room, but that is not my wife, Detective."
(Bert Riggs' dialogue)
