Erik DeMarcos was the developer of the Vault-Tec Emergency Management System, a senior professor and former dean at Vault-Tec University, and the overseer and chief software developer of Vault 96.[1] He is deceased as of 2103.

Background

Before the Great War, DeMarcos rejected Trisha Miller's application to work at Vault 96, sending her a form letter to notify her of the rejection.[2] After the War, DeMarcos reflected on his faith in Vault-Tec and his current role as overseer of Vault 96, looking over potential disaster situations the Vault could encounter.[3] In addition, as overseer, his instructions were to distribute quotas for the Vault, utilizing all possible means of disciplinary and security enforcement to do so, with the goal being to complete at least 250 weeks of research quota submissions, for the reward of being the only one to leave.[4]

Appearances

Erik DeMarcos is mentioned only in Fallout 76. He was first mentioned as the overseer of Vault 96, without stating his name, at the game's release.[2] He is also mentioned on the Vault 94 terminal entries, introduced in the Nuclear Winter update,[5] while the Locked & Loaded update fully introduced Vault 96 and DeMarcos' role in it.

Behind the scenes

The Vault 96 terminals, on which DeMarcos is mentioned, have existed in the game files since The Legendary Run update.
