Enclave Squad Epsilon, or Epsilon Squad, is a division of specialized Enclave troops at the Gleaming Depths in Appalachia in Fallout 76, introduced in the Gleaming Depths update.

Background[]

A detachment of five Epsilon Squad members were sent to act as security forces for Project Vulcan under orders from then-Secretary Thomas Eckhart. They were described as an elite task force, and their presence was a luxury rarely afforded to extant research facilities.[1]

They stayed loyal and defended the complex before contracting the Scorched Plague while on a routine surface mission. On April 23, 2085, the squadron had their first contact with an outside threat: red humanoids with crystalline growths, otherwise known as the Scorched. Upon return, the troops began showing signs that something was not right. A week later, Python and Wasp assaulted their superior officer, presumably Lynx, causing the automated security in the room to kill them, leaving only Lynx, Bloodhound, and Vulture alive. An autopsy suggested that Python and Wasp had contracted a disease from the hostiles they encountered. On June 7, 2085, it was reported that the rest of Epsilon Squad had been showing signs of infections. They were voluntarily quarantined for study, and the Enclave's scientists had no known cure for the plague.[2]

The surviving three still were described as having "something off about them" by John Holloway,[3] and by the time they are encountered by the Vault 76 dwellers, they have become fully afflicted with the plague and are hostile to intruders upon being released from suspension tanks.[4]

The name of the group falls in line with established Enclave military hierarchy. A similar division of specialized troops is seen during the assault on the mobile base crawler in the Fallout 3 add-on Broken Steel.

Related quests[]

  • Raid: Gleaming Depths: Enclave Epsilon Squad and its three members are the third main encounter during this raid quest; defeating them is an involved process and requires careful coordination from a team.
    • Each troop is protected by a shield produced by Ultragenetic Shield Generators, the same type that protects the boss of the first stage, the EN06 Guardian.
    • Three letters A, B, and C mark the separate Ultragenetic Generator rooms. To damage Epsilon troops, these generators must be destroyed. Repair Eyebots will quickly make their way to any damaged generator to fix it, returning the Enclave soldiers to their invulnerable state. A division of responsibilities among the team, attacking the troops and the generators separately, will be necessary to counteract this.

Enclave Squad Epsilon appears only in Fallout 76, introduced in the Gleaming Depths update.
