Help Abbie create the upgrades needed to complete the Scorched Detectors.

Early Warnings is a main quest in Fallout 76.

Background[]

This quest is a follow up quest from the quest The Missing Link and focuses on the dwellers' attempt to posthumously finish Abbie Singh's upgrades needed to complete the Scorched Detectors across Appalachia for the Free States.

Quick walkthrough[]

Detailed walkthrough[]

  • The quest starts once the player completed The Missing Link and enters Abbie's bunker, or enters it early before completing The Missing Link. The bunker is safe, with only radroaches and glowing radroaches calling it home. Abbie's pre-recorded message will play on the intercom (if power armor is being used, the player might have to exit the power armor chassis to be able to hear Abbie). She will ask the player to complete her project.
  • First, the player needs the missing uplink. This was found in the raider vault at the end of Key to the Past, itself a prerequisite for completing The Missing Link as one had to help Rose before she would let them into the vault to recover the uplink. The uplink has to be repaired at Abbie's tinker's workbench, or any tinker's workbench as using Abbie's is not mandatory.
  • Doing so will yield the access keycode to Raleigh Clay's bunker. Entering it will trigger another recording of Abbie. It's time to go parts hunting. First, players need to collect five fan motors from Clay's generator room.
    • Players can also collect Clay's special schematics to complete the quest, those being the plans for shrouded wood armor.
  • Afterwards, they need to find five upgraded coils:
  • The quest will complete once the player crafts five upgraded motors at Abbie's tinker's workbench and selects the Motors Upgraded option at the main SDS terminal in the main room of Abbie's bunker, moving on to the next quest, Reassembly Required.

StageStatusDescriptionLog Entry
? Listen to AbbieI discovered an old bunker in the Mire. When I entered, a voice recording came over an intercom system. I should listen to it and find out what the creator was up to.
? Find the missing UplinkI triggered a recorded message from a woman named Abbie. She asked for my help to find a missing uplink. Abbie said the last person who had it was a man named Madigan, heading toward Top of the World.
? Repair the Broken UplinkI have Madigan's uplink, but it's broken and needs repairs. Once I have the parts, I need to repair it at a tinker's workbench. Abbie mentioned she has one in her bunker.
? Select Uplink Repaired at the Scorched Detection SystemNow that I have repaired the uplink, I should check in at the SDS terminal. I need to find the "Uplink Repaired" option to trigger Abbie's next message.
? Enter Raleigh's bunkerAbbie's last recording said I need to get inside Raleigh Clay's bunker to recover some fan motors. She gave me the password so I could get inside. Now all I need to do is find it.
? Find a Heating Coil at Ella's bunkerAfter entering Raleigh Clay's bunker, another message from Abbie came over the intercom system. She said I can find the fan motors in the generator room, but will also need to look for heating coils and potentially some schematics for some helpful protection in the Mire.
? Find a Heating Coil at the Relay Tower
? Find Heating Coils at Abbie's bunker
? (Optional) Find Raleigh's Schematics
? Find the Fan Motors (0/5)
? Craft Upgraded Motors (0/5)Now that I have both the fan motors and the heating coils, I need to find a tinker's workbench to create the upgraded motors I need for the Scorched Detectors. Abbie has mentioned she has one in her bunker if I can't find one easily.
?Quest finishedSelect Motors Upgraded at the Scorched Detection TerminalI've finally created the upgraded motors for the Scorched Detectors. I need to check in at the SDS terminal and select the "Upgraded Motors" option to see what's next.

Bugs[]

Prior to patch 1.0.5.10, if one logged out prior to crafting all 5 upgraded motors, logging back in would result in the count resetting back to 0/5 and the player character being unable to complete the quest. [patched][1]
