Duel with the Devil, also known as Rip Daring: Duel with the Devil, was the sixteenth season in Fallout 76. It began on March 26, 2024, with the release of the America's Playground update, and ended on June 12, 2024.[1] It was preceded by The Big Score and was followed by Pioneer Scouts: Skyline Valley.
Duel with the Devil was the first season to implement the new ticket-based season pass system for seasons, removing the scoreboard functionality. Instead, SCORE now awards tickets, which can be used to acquire unique rewards on different pages at the player's choosing. Pages of rewards are unlocked by reaching certain SCORE ranks, and the rewards are purchased using the tickets. According to developer Jesse McLean, this was done to provide visual clarity, allowing the player to better preview rewards before they are acquired.[2]
Overview[]
As an extension of the changes made to the in-game seasons, Duel with the Devil was the first season to not be based on an in-universe board game. Instead, the completion reward came in the form of a mural (a wall decoration item). However, Duel with the Devil did continue the story of Rip Daring from his first appearance in Rip Daring and the Cryptid Hunt, the twelfth season. The story of Duel with the Devil focused on Rip, his companion Guinevere, and the Mister Handy Percival as they hunt for the Jersey Devil in the Pine Barrens of America's Playground.
