The Dinner Bell is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas. It is a unique variant of the hunting shotgun.

Background

This section is transcluded from shotgun. To change it, please edit the transcluded page.

A shotgun, also called a "scattergun," is a firearm designed to shoot a multitude of lead or steel balls of varying sizes, greatly increasing the weapon's hit potential. This makes it very effective at hunting game.[Non-game 1] However, the accuracy and power found at close range starts to diminish as the target gets farther away. Shotguns designed for the military's use are often called "combat shotguns."

Characteristics

The Dinner Bell is a unique variant of the hunting shotgun. It differs in appearance to the standard shotgun with the metal of the barrel, receiver, and shell ejection port seem to appear to be more well-maintained, and that the stock and grip pump are synthetic with a camouflage pattern.

This weapon, like most unique weapons, cannot be modified, with either the longtube or the choke modifications, but the weapon already incorporates the choke and has a reduced spread when compared to the unmodified hunting shotgun. The Dinner Bell still has the advantage of greater damage compared to a fully-modified hunting shotgun.

Notes

  • The Dinner Bell can fire 745 standard 12 gauge shells, 149 full magazines, before breaking.
  • The collector's guide edition of the Fallout: New Vegas Official Game Guide from Prima Games lists the weapon location as being obtainable in the nuclear test shack in addition to completing Bleed Me Dry, which is false. Prior to the first patch it is indeed found there, but even if you obtain it after you apply the patch it will disappear leaving a normal hunting shotgun.
  • When reloading the gun in 3rd person the player does not always pump the shotgun after they have loaded the last round.

Bugs

  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 After being holstered on the player's back it can cause some rifles to be inverted from their usual holstered position.
  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 Switching to the 12 gauge, coin shot while moving may cause a looped reloading sequence.
    • It can be easily fixed by simply changing ammunition type once more, or switching weapons.
