The Devil's Backbone is a location in Appalachia.

Background[]

Devil's Backbone is a natural arch of Tuscarora sandstone. This landmark is located a short distance to the east of Huntersville, the backbone sits just off State Route 107. It features pre-War marked hiking trails.[1]

Layout[]

A derelict camping spot can be found below the flagpole along the peak, near some military graves by a pond. The nearby bridge leads to the Trapper's camp unmarked location, northeast of the camping spot.

Notable loot[]

  • Notice of expulsion - A note that can be discovered in the back of a van next to the red Zip car, on the bridge near the fast travel point.
  • Stealth Boy - On a cinderblock near the top of the cliff, next to a skeleton in a chair.

Appearances[]

The Devil's Backbone appears in Fallout 76.

Behind the scenes[]

The Devil's Backbone is based on the real-world location of the same name, whose crest has an outcrop of Tuscarora Sandstone.

This natural arch of Tuscarora sandstone is a local landmark just east of Huntersville. Visible from the remains of a bridge along Route 107, this has a flagpole, some minor camping detritus atop its peak, and a pond below the bridge with the rudimentary graves of two military soldiers."
