I've got Chems to treat pretty much anything... 'Cept stupidity. You're on your own with that one.

Del Walsh is a medic and vendor who was employed by the Nuka-Cola Corporation before the Great War. After the bombs dropped, he joined the traveling carnival of Nuka-World on Tour and served as a meds and chems merchant in Appalachia.

Background[]

Pre-War[]

Walsh worked as the senior paramedic at Nuka-World outside of Boston before the war. Dissatisfied with the sanitary conditions of the office area in the Nuka-Town USA clinic, he sent an email to his coworkers to remind them to throw away their unfinished food and to clean up afterward.[1] When the senior physician, Dr. J. MacDonald, left for his two-week European vacation, Walsh occasionally filled in for the acting senior physician, Dr. Michaels, during some shifts to ensure Michaels got time off.[2]

Having treated and reported hundreds of injuries and two fatalities caused by recent ride malfunctions, Walsh bypassed his unreceptive superiors on July 14, 2077, to voice his concern with the safety at Nuka-World directly to John-Caleb Bradberton.[3] Bradberton, who secretly underwent Project LEAP-X in his personal vault on April 2, 2077, would have been impossible to reach without contacting his proxy, Peyton Huxley.[4] It is unknown whether Bradberton or Huxley ever received the holotape, as the report is found on the reception desk in the clinic.

By July 18, 2077, Walsh was offered a role in Nuka-World on Tour. He was excited because it would mean he would be in charge of health and safety, and he could tell his parents he earned a high ranking position. By August, he became its physician. [5]

Nuka-World on Tour[]

Through the Great War's devastation, Walsh survived and kept traveling with the carnival for over the next two decades.

Walsh began to give Pete Myers chems such as Daddy-O, believing that doing so was keeping Pete alive. Walsh also thought that Pete could not only be a threat to himself but also to other people. The prescription of chems annoyed Pete's sister Pat Myers, who would threaten Walsh over the issue to the degree that she wished Walsh was no longer part of the carnival.

Notes[]

Del is one of three mentioned-only characters from Fallout 4 (and its add-ons) to appear in Fallout 76, the others being actors Shannon Rivers and Elliot Manfield.

Appearances[]

Del Walsh was first mentioned in the Fallout 4 add-on Nuka-World, in a holotape featuring his voice. He appears as a full character in Fallout 76, introduced in the Nuka-World on Tour update.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Del's holotape is voiced by Alain Mesa in the Fallout 4 add-on Nuka-World; Mesa also voiced the trader Maddox. In his living appearance in Fallout 76, Del is instead voiced by Wes Johnson.[6]
  • Although Alain Mesa did not return to voice the character for Nuka-World on Tour, Mesa later worked on Fallout 76, voicing communists in the Skyline Valley update. However, Del Walsh's dialogue was not re-recorded and he remains voiced by Wes Johnson in Fallout 76.
