Crickets are insects that survived the Great War.

It is unknown if typical crickets mutated in any way as they are not seen in-game and are only heard at night. Cave crickets (encountered at Nuka-World and in Appalachia), can be encountered and are much larger than the pre-War variant.

They are most commonly found throughout hospitable populated regions or wooded areas. Known locations for crickets are the Capital Wasteland, Point Lookout, the Mojave Wasteland, the Commonwealth, the Island, and Zion Canyon.

Gametitle-VBThe following is based on Van Buren and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

Cricket chirps were to be included in the background ambient sound of the Tibbets Prison and Boulder in Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 by Black Isle Studios.[1][2]

Crickets are heard in Fallout 3 and its add-on Point Lookout, Fallout: New Vegas and its add-on Honest Hearts, Fallout 4 and its add-on Far Harbor, and were also to be heard in Van Buren. Cave crickets are seen in the Fallout 4 add-on Nuka-World, and in Fallout 76 and its update Nuclear Winter.
