Crescent Canyon west is a location in the Mojave Wasteland in Fallout: New Vegas.
Layout[]
Situated slightly south of Morning Star Cavern, it serves as one of two entrances to Crescent Canyon, along with Crescent Canyon east, while the canyon itself forms a natural barrier along the southern end of the map. From east to west, the canyon is populated by golden geckos and strewn with radioactive waste barrels. A train hangs over the canyon from the roadway above, with some cars resting at the bottom of the canyon. The canyon is irradiated, resulting in 4 rads/second. At the west end of the canyon, there is a hollowed-out rock at the bottom of the hill on the left, adjacent to a rusting vehicle.
Notable loot[]
- Advanced radiation suit - Located roughly halfway through the canyon, near an overturned truck in a marked case.
Notes[]
On the north side of the railroad, after the train car, the road becomes a normal street with no railroad tracks continuing on the other side or found in the canyon below.
Appearances[]
Crescent Canyon west appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.
Behind the scenes[]
The in-game Crescent Canyon is located in the same geographical area as the real-world Crescent Canyon, below Crescent Peak in the McCullough Range of the Mojave Desert.
Bugs[]
- When proceeding through the canyon from the north entrance heading south, after passing the first pile of radiation barrels, there is a wrecked-out bus. If you climb onto this bus, head toward the missing end, jump onto the boulder at the back of the bus, and walk south over the crest of the boulder; you will fall into part of the terrain and become trapped.[verified]
- Legate's camp.[verified] When standing near the entrance (facing away from Morning Star Cavern), on the right-hand side of the canyon, you should be able to take the rocks up and out of the map with very little amount of jumping involved. Once you get to the top, there seems to be no invisible wall stopping you from leaving the confines of the map. This trick also allows you to access various previously inaccessible areas of the map, including the
