You are seriously fucked! You know that?

Lieutenant Clint is a former veteran of the Commonwealth Minutemen until his betrayal in 2287, when he sided with the Gunners and helped carry out the Quincy Massacre. He appears in Fallout 4.

Background[]

Former believer[]

A recognized veteran in the Commonwealth Minutemen since joining sometime around 2277,[1] Clint pursued their mission to help the people of the Commonwealth "at a minute's notice" faithfully, fully believing they held the strength to bring order from chaos.[2] As soon as he started to realize the Minutemen were losing such strength,[3] Clint became disillusioned with their ideals, and gradually betrayed them by shirking his responsibilities and ignoring calls to protect the settlements and citizens of the Commonwealth.

Betrayal at Quincy[]

Main article: Quincy Massacre

The culmination of his departure from the mission came in 2287 when he personally showed up to Quincy while it was under siege by the Gunners. There, he discovered that a group of Minutemen, led by a once-close comrade Colonel Ezra Hollis had arrived to defend the settlement. Hollis' initial relief to see him was shattered when Clint revealed to Hollis and the town's mayor that sometime prior, he had allied with the Gunners and was leading their attack on Quincy in order to gain a position in their ranks. Although Clint offered terms for a peaceful surrender, Hollis rebuked him. In response, Clint gave one last warning for the Minutemen to abandon Quincy and leave it to the Gunners, or they would wipe them all out.[4][1][Non-game 1]

True to his word, the Gunners staged a tactical offensive on Quincy a short time later, following Clint's strategy to attack from the overpass above the town and picking off numerous civilians and Minutemen alike. The defenders were routed in due time, and most killed save for a group of twenty led by Hollis' subordinate Preston Garvey that fled northwest toward Jamaica Plain. Meanwhile, the Gunners were able to capture Colonel Hollis alive and brought him to Clint. After a final insult to the betrayer, Hollis was executed by Clint himself in order to gain his new troops' trust and respect.[2] The event subsequently became known as the Quincy Massacre.

Once the takeover of Quincy was completed, Clint was placed in command by Captain Wes as a lieutenant. Under his guidance, the Gunners turned the old township into a major stronghold, including setting up radio communications back to their headquarters to the west. Despite his battle strategy being responsible for conquering Quincy, one of his subordinates, Tessa, was still distrusting of Clint due to his former ties to the Minutemen whilst most others had fallen in line, including Sergeant Baker.[5][6] This forced Clint to take proactive measures in sending his dissenters on scouting missions in the surrounding territory, including sizing up the Wilson Atomatoys factory occupied by super mutants and carrying out regular raids on the Atom Cats at their fortified garage to steal their custom sets of power armor,[7] in order to cement his authority and fully break away from any illusions of being a "goody two-shoes" protector.[Non-game 2]

Notes[]

  • Clint will always appear wearing an almost complete set of T-51 armor, minus the helmet and torso, whereas his armor's torso is actually a T-60 torso.
  • Companions such as Nick Valentine, Piper, Cait, Hancock and Curie will like killing Clint in Quincy. Preston Garvey will love when Clint is killed due to him being the one responsible for the fall of Quincy and the death of his leader Col. Hollis and other Minutemen.
  • When first entering Quincy, Clint will initially be inside the upper shack of the overpass, outside of his power armor, unless the player character is detected before reaching him.
  • According to the tattoo on his forehead, Clint's blood type is A-positive.
  • Using Clint's power armor, before or after killing him, is considered stealing. Care should be taken if entering or leaving this power armor at a settlement or around NPCs. Similarly, as a container, it is permanently marked as owned, and removing items (armor components and fusion cores) from this owned container will increment the Stolen Items stat count. This could also potentially trigger reactions from NPCs.

Due to some controversial zoning, the freeway was run right over the main street, near the buildings of this once-picturesque and historical settlement. John Adams, John Quincy Adams, and John Hancock were all born here. Currently, Gunners have taken over the Quincy ruins and a section of freeway that runs through the town. This was once a Minutemen stronghold until the arrival of the Gunners and a defection of one of the Minutemen’s own."

The main Gunner base overlooks Quincy and is therefore difficult to storm. Access is via one of the rickety bridges from the apartment building or church. Scavenge the area for a Nuka Cola Quantum and health, and use the collapsed freeway section to reach the top tier of the freeway.

When threats are abated, scrounge the camp for a Mini Nuke, ammo, a steam trunk, information from a Gunner terminal, and an issue of Guns and Bullets magazine. This is also where Clint is. He’s wearing some impressive Power Armor and carries a unique laser rifle.
