Background

Main article: Nuka-Cola

Nuka-Cola entered the beverage market in 2044, with the invention of the soft drink by John-Caleb Bradberton after two years of experimentation.[1] It contained 120% of the recommended daily allowance of sugar, and took the United States market by storm, and within a year could be purchased nationwide.[2] Its popularity rapidly increased and within several years it was the most popular beverage across the globe.[3][2]

The unique taste of Nuka-Cola is the result of a combination of 17 fruit essences, balanced to enhance the classic cola flavor.[4] Additives such as aspartame, phosphoric and citric acid, caramel color, caffeine, and potassium benzoate were added to carbonated water along with additional natural flavors, resulting in the product's formula.[5] [1]

It was marketed as being fortified with vitamins, minerals and "health tonics."[6] Ingredients were combined in just the right proportion, to the level that shortages of ingredients or changes to the recipe were noticed by consumers.[7] Frequent consumption could cause addiction, which led to splitting headaches.[8] c Classic Nuka-Cola tastes exactly like the original Nuka-Cola but comes in a new bottle. It was an attempt at saving the brand after the marketing disaster that was Cherry Nuka-Cola.

Characteristics

Classic Nuka-Cola, made to make up for the loss of poor Cherry Nuka-Cola sales, is almost the exact same as normal Nuka-Cola, just packaged in a different bottle.

Locations

Carried by several characters such as Peck, Angry Rick and by Phil, the Nuka-Cola dude.

Behind the scenes

  • The name of the Nuka-Cola creator, John-Caleb Bradberton, is an amalgamation of the inventors of Coca-Cola (John Pemberton) and Pepsi-Cola (Caleb Bradham).
  • This mimics that of New Coke. After Coca-Cola changed the ingredients to make a new Coca-Cola, it was a disaster, so they later changed the formula back and called it Coca-Cola Classic.
