Chuck is a fortune teller in Adytum around 2161, in Fallout.
Background[]
A dark-skinned man wearing a variety of bright scarves and trinkets, Chuck is a Romani fortune teller[1] living in Adytum. He recognizes that as an individual he has limited influence over the world around him and thus accepts the Regulators as a fact of life, preferring to pick his fights, compromising and hoping for a greater victory in due time. Until then, he tries to help the people of Adytum suffering under strict rules as much as possible, lightening their lives with tarot readings and tales.[2]
Interactions with the player character[]
Interactions overview[]

---|---|---|
This character has other interactions. |
Chuck can perform a tarot reading, placing up to three late game locations on the worldmap and then increasing the player's Luck by 1. |
Other interactions[]
- Talking to Chuck and asking for his advice leads to him doing a Tarot reading for the Vault Dweller. By getting various "fortunes," Chuck will place markers on the world map for the locations.
- He will give the Vault Dweller between one and three readings for locations: the Brotherhood (if the Vault Dweller never had anyone mark it), the military base (if the Vault Dweller has not been there or found its location in the Cathedral Vault), and finally the Cathedral (always).
- Mocking Chuck's fortune-telling will offend him and result in his refusal to read the Vault Dweller's tarot.

Behind the scenes[]
Chuck is referred to in the game as a gypsy, which has been rejected by Romani as an ethnic slur since 1971.
Bugs[]
It is possible to get an extra Luck point when talking to Chuck the first time, then asking for advice. This only works as long as Chuck is not asked about his job until after receiving the Luck bonus.[verified]
