The Hei Gui Chinese Stealth Armor is an armor suit appearing in Operation: Anchorage.

Background

Chinese Stealth Armor was used during the Chinese invasion of Alaska and was the Chinese solution to invasion by U.S. forces in power armor. It was available to elite Chinese Crimson Dragoon troops, as well as the Black Ghost counter-insurgency/terror units before and during the Great War.

Earlier Hei Gui models were also used during raids against the Hoover Dam secret laboratory and Limit-115 laboratory.

Characteristics

The armor is a form-fitting armored jumpsuit, with stealth camouflage system embedded. It generates a modulating field that transmits the reflected light from one side of an object to the other, making a person much harder to notice (but not completely invisible). The technology was the basis for the unstable "Stealth Boy" wrist units developed in the U.S.

It has a DR comparable to Recon Armor, but also increases the Stealth Field stat by 5 when crouching.

Location

It can be obtained after the Operation Anchorage simulation. It is in the room which you can open after completing the simulation.

Appearances

The Hei Gui Chinese Stealth Armor appears in the Fallout 3 add-on Operation: Anchorage.

Behind the scenes

  • In Chinese, Hei Gui (黑鬼) literally means "Black Ghost". Hei (黑) means black, and Gui (鬼) means ghost, apparition, etc.
  • The stealth field's appearance is virtually identical to that used by the Predator.

Bugs

  • PCPC With the stealth suit on you can equip as many pieces of headgear that you want and raise many stats substantially. If you do this, and then equip another suit of armor (ex. Power Armor) you will still be wearing all the headgear. This exploit can lead to HUGE stat advantages.
  • Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 If you pickpocket a stealth suit from a Crimson Dragoon the stealth field will not activate when crouching, and the suit's stats are identical to those of the recon armor. Additionally, it lists under effects on the Pip-Boy as "Initiate's Armor."
  • Certain one-handed weapons like the Chinese Pistol will cause the suit's textures to clip onscreen while reloading in the first-person view.
  • Looking Straight down with a weapon while running will show some of the Chinese Stealth Armor in 1st person view
  • Sometimes, for an unknown reason, the Chinese Stealth Armor simply won't appear after you complete Operation Anchorage.
  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 Allowing your follower to wear the stealth armor and then equipping them with better armor may cause them to still turn invisible while sneaking. The way to avoid this is to take the stealth armor before equipping your companion with anything better.
  • Sometimes when equiping the stealth armor, the player's head trails behind on the ground for unknown reasons.
  • Wearing multiple headgear can cause 3rd person viewing glitches, such as headlessness, unique multiheadgear morphology, or simple rotation of single headgears.
  • Sometimes while you are in invisibility mode and use your Pip-Boy your Xbox may freeze.
