The Chinese jumpsuit and the Chinese commando hat are pieces of clothing in Fallout 3. The Communist commander outfit in Fallout 76 can be considered a high definition recreation.
Background[]
The basic People's Liberation Army uniform is a single piece jumpsuit, whose design is based on the Mao suit. It has four large front pockets, arranged symmetrically, the Chinese flag over the upper right pocket and is typically worn together with a large leather belt, shoulder belt, and a commando hat.
The accompanying commando hat is an ushanka style hat with the ear and neck flaps tied up, displaying the insignia of Communist China in the centre of the front face. Jumpsuits seen in America carry the insignia of the Chinese Iron Army on the right sleeve and have two red stars on the collar lapels.
Characteristics[]
The jumpsuit is a decorative piece of armor, with half the DR provided by the starting Vault 101 security armor and low item hit points.

Locations[]
Chinese jumpsuit[]
- Tranquility Lane: The Chinese jumpsuit is worn by the commandos when the failsafe terminal is activated. It can not be looted from their bodies, as they are rendered unconscious and not killed, and all inventory from the simulation is deleted upon exit.
Dirty Chinese jumpsuit[]
- Rivet City: The dirty Chinese jumpsuit can be purchased at Potomac Attire.
- Taft Tunnel under the Jefferson Memorial: Found at abandoned infiltrator listening posts.
- Mama Dolce's: Looted from Chinese remnants.
- Dead pilot random encounter: One of these can also be found on a dead Chinese commando. A radio signal from a Chinese radio beacon guides to the commando's corpse.
Chinese commando hat[]
- Taft Tunnel under Jefferson Memorial: Near the Very Hard locked terminal that Doctor Li hacks. It is in the room with all the generators that Enclave soldiers spawn from. The location can be reached via a secret manhole in front of the Citadel after The Waters of Life.
- Broadcast tower KT8: Inside the nearby drainage chamber. It lies on the floor next to two long-dead Chinese remnant spies.
- Near US Army Field Headquarters: One is located on the sandbag wall encountered on the way to the Chinese Forward Base Delta. It is just before one sees the American soldiers executing Chinese soldiers. It has unlimited durability.
- Cryo lab: In the southwestern most corner room behind a door that must be activated with a switch. The hat is on a table on the right when entering the room.
- Engineering core: Next to an ammunition box in a northeast hallway leading to a teleportation matrix to the Bridge.
Behind the scenes[]
It is a modified Zhongshan suit (translation "Sun Yat-sen suit", founder of the Chinese Nationalist Party). Mao Zedong has always been associated with this suit in Western press and thus it was incorrectly named after him Mao suit in the English language. The suit was popular in the early 20th century in China, and to this day it's considered to be a symbol of the Chinese revolutionary forces that fought to create an independent Chinese Republic. Both Nationalist and Communist forces used the suit, and it remains in use on ceremonial occasions to this day.
