The Chinese grenade launcher is a weapon in the Fallout 4 Creation Club content "Makeshift Weapon Pack" and included in the next-gen update.

Characteristics[]

Per its name, the weapon is a pre-War design created by the Chinese military, thus having a more refined and industrial design compared to the pipe grenade launcher, both chambered for 40mm frag grenade ammunition.

Weapon modifications[]

Unlike the pipe grenade launcher, the Chinese grenade launcher lacks any pistol grip mods nor can it be equipped with a suppressor.

Locations[]

One of two legendary variants can be obtained during When Pigs Fly via the following options:

  • A legendary Penetrating variant can be obtained from Suggs as a reward after returning the grenade launcher schematics taken from Marvin's body.
  • Flakker, a legendary Kneecapper variant, can be obtained by killing Suggs instead of Marvin to finish the quest.

After completion of the quest, non-legendary variants will begin appearing equipped by raiders and sold by weapons vendors.

Bugs[]

PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 Rarely, a .45 pipe rifle version of the weapon named ".45 Chinese Grenade Launcher Rifle" may be found. The weapon takes the appearance of a pipe rifle but has a significantly reduced ammo capacity compared to a standard pipe rifle. When fired, the weapon makes the same noise as the grenade launcher, although it fires standard bullets instead. It can be modified to have Chinese grenade launcher exclusive modifications, such as special paints or even a ballistic shield, although changing the receiver of the weapon from .45 will revert the weapon back to a standard pipe rifle.[verified]

  • The root cause of this bug (in common within many bugs in the next gen update) is that the mod author did not understand the requirements to correctly create a modcoll for the new weapon. Without a correctly configured modcoll, weapons randomly spawned in game (as opposed to hand-placed examples) may have invalid combinations of weapon mods - for example, a .45 pipe receiver.
