Chinese commandos are simulated People's Liberation Army soldiers, a part of the Tranquility Lane simulation within Vault 112.
Background
Part of the Tranquility Lane simulation, Dr. Braun incorporated a failsafe into the virtual titled "US MILITARY TRAINING PROGRAM 923-B: CHINESE INVASION" which served to simulate a Communist incursion on U.S. soil. General Chase warned that running the program as Braun requested could result in the test subjects dying if they were to be killed in the simulation.[1]
If the Lone Wanderer runs the program, the commandos will traverse the street, killing all inhabitants except Betty and Doc. After they have done so, they will take up positions around the cul-de-sac. They are essential and cannot be killed, only knocked unconscious. When they awake, they will not attack the Lone Wanderer.
