Catherine can be found at the Riverboat Landing in the Capital Wasteland in the year 2277.
Background[]
Catherine is a denizen of the Capital Wasteland who lives near Rivet City. Her life was recently upended when her daughter Nadine left the region to find a fortune in the swamps of Point Lookout, against her mother's objections.[1][Non-game 1] Catherine doesn't believe that her daughter has the experience to survive in the wilderness, going so far as to recruit the Lone Wanderer to find her and bring her home safely.[2][3] Though she fears for her daughter's safety, she implies that when she was Nadine's age, she was similarly foolhardy and adventurous.[4]
As for Nadine's side of the dilemma, Catherine's daughter truly loves her mother, but only wishes to return when she has a sizable fortune to return with.[5] Once Nadine takes control of the Duchess Gambit from the malicious Tobar, she reunites with her relieved mother in the Capital Wasteland.[6] Having acquired the riverboat's share of cargo alongside her daughter, Catherine gladly compensates the Lone Wanderer for their part in finding Nadine.[7]

Notes[]
- Catherine doesn't know much about the region her daughter has traveled to, having never been there, but speculates that Nadine can possibly be found where the profitable Punga fruit is grown.[8][9]
- After returning from Point Lookout while Nadine is in control of the Duchess Gambit, Catherine will sometimes enter the ferry's engine room.
- Catherine does not have any specific interactions with her daughter, they do not speak much after their reunion, and she lacks many special ones with the Lone Wanderer after their reunion.
Notable quotes[]
- "Please, find my daughter!"

- "You! Are you going to Point Lookout? I need your help! My daughter stowed away on the Duchess Gambit a few weeks ago, and I've been worried sick ever since. I haven't heard anything from her, but if you're going there, could you look for her? Please, I'll do anything to help!"

- "Only that it's where Tobar gets those Punga Fruits he sells off. Must be making a good profit off of them, too. I hear rumors the place is full of swamps and killer plants, but I don't know about all that."

Appearances[]
Catherine appears only in the Fallout 3 add-on Point Lookout.
Bugs[]
- When returning from Point Lookout after saving her daughter, she seems to have vanished and thus no reward is received. [verified]
- She may be in the water near the Duchess Gambit, making it impossible to speak to her and obtain a reward for returning Nadine to her. For PC users, this can be solved by using the console command "moveto player" while selecting Catherine. [verified]
References[]
- ↑ The Lone Wanderer: "What can you tell me about your daughter?"
Catherine: "She's about your age, and when she left, her hair was dyed bright orange. You shouldn't have any problem recognizing her. She told me she wanted to go find her fortune, but I thought it was too dangerous. I should've known better than to say that. Moment I told her she couldn't go, it was just a matter of time before she ran off..."

Catherine: "Oh, bless you! Her name is Nadine, and she left a couple weeks ago. Said she wanted to see the world, silly little thing that she is. That Tobar said he dropped her off at Point Lookout, but who knows what's happened to her since then? I don't know if you can convince my little Nadine to come back, but just give her this note from me, would you?"
(Catherine's dialogue) - ↑ The Lone Wanderer: "I talked to your daughter, but she says she can't come back yet."
Catherine: "That sounds like her. Too busy having her adventures to think about family. Like mother, like daughter."
(Catherine's dialogue) - ↑ The Lone Wanderer: "Nadine, your mother asked me to find you."
Nadine: "Look, it's not that I don't want to go home, or anything. I mean, I love my ma, even if she does make me want to claw my eyes out sometimes. It's just, I came out here to find a fortune. To make my mark. To be able to bring something with me when I do come back. If you see my mom again, let her know I'll be coming back, eventually. Just... not quite yet."
(Nadine's dialogue) - ↑ The Lone Wanderer: "Any chance you're going home now?"
Nadine: "Now that I've got this sweet boat? I guess I could head back home... for a while, anyway. Just wait 'till mom sees the haul I'm bringing home!"
(Nadine's dialogue) - ↑ The Lone Wanderer: "Got Nadine back, safe and sound."
Catherine: "Yes, thank you so much! And now that she's got this boat and carrying all this cargo... well, I can afford to actually pay you! Thank you so much!"
(Catherine's dialogue) - ↑ The Lone Wanderer: "Do you know anything about Point Lookout?"
Catherine: "Only that it's where Tobar gets those Punga Fruits he sells off. Must be making a good profit off of them, too. I hear rumors the place is full of swamps and killer plants, but I don't know about all that."
(Catherine's dialogue) - ↑ The Lone Wanderer: "Any idea where Nadine might be?"
Catherine: "I've never even been to Point Lookout, so I wouldn't know. She just said she was going to go find her fortune there. She could be anyplace! But I do remember her talking about that Punga Fruit, and how valuable it'd be to grow here. Maybe she'll be someplace it grows?"

Non-game
- ↑ Fallout 3 Official Game Guide Game of the Year Edition p.65: "Catherine:
Nadine's mother is very caring, if somewhat overprotective. Catherine lives near Rivet City, and asks you to look for her daughter. Nadine was always a headstrong girl, and the first to bag a live Mirelurk hatchling, but Catherine fears her little mite doesn't have the experience to survive in the open wilderness."
