Subcategories[]

I suggest the following subcategories:

  • Fallout 4 body armor
  • Fallout 4 clothing
  • Fallout 4 headwear
  • Fallout 4 power armor
  • Fallout 4 unique armor and clothing
  • Fallout 4 racial armor and clothing
    • Fallout 4 super mutant armor and clothing
    • Fallout 4 dog armor and clothing

And the crossed sub-subcategories:

  • Fallout 4 unique body armor
  • Fallout 4 unique clothing
  • Fallout 4 unique headwear
  • Fallout 4 unique power armor

I would keep Fallout 4 body armor, Fallout 4 clothing and Fallout 4 power armor together as I think it will cause too much confusion for people that want to search by category, same for the unique pieces. So basically, I'd keep things the way they are, but add the super mutant and dog armor categories. - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 16:49, January 16, 2016 (UTC)

So, you suggest :

  • Fallout 4 body armor
  • Fallout 4 headwear
  • Fallout 4 unique armor and clothing
    • Fallout 4 unique body armor
    • Fallout 4 unique headwear
  • Fallout 4 racial armor and clothing
    • Fallout 4 super mutant armor and clothing
    • Fallout 4 dog armor and clothing

I still believe we should have a 'Fallout 4 power armor' category since it functions entirely differently from the regular armors. --YoDsanklai (talk, blogs) 17:03, January 16, 2016 (UTC)

I'd just keep "Fallout 4 armor and clothing" instead of "Fallout 4 body armor" as some pieces of clothing can be seen as somewhat armor and some pieces of armor are also clothing. As all pages still fit within one category page (you don't have to press "next 200" to get an overview), I wouldn't go as far as saying there's a need as the overview is lost. Futhermore, we stay in line with the older games then. As the racial armors are something new and the power armors are clearly different from the other armor and clothing items, they probably do have a good reason to be put in seperate categories. - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 17:20, January 16, 2016 (UTC)

I was thinking the following structure. Seperating armor, clothing and outfits. Those last two take up a different amount of slots.

  • Fallout 4 armor
    • Fallout 4 unique armor
  • Fallout 4 power armor
  • Fallout 4 super mutant armor
  • Fallout 4 dog armor
  • Fallout 4 clothing
  • Fallout 4 outfits
    • Fallout 4 unique outfits
  • Fallout 4 headwear
    • Fallout 4 unique headwear

But don't a lot of items fill more than 1 slot? A dress takes up a clothing slot and leg armor slots, so is it armor? And what exactly is an outfit? I honestly question the purpose of these subcategories. Paladin117>>iff bored; 21:53, January 16, 2016 (UTC)
I still fail to see any positive consequence of the splitt of "armor and clothing" in these 3 subcategories. The Courser uniform for example would then join all three categories? - Greets Peace'n Hugs (talk) (blog) 21:58, January 16, 2016 (UTC)

The point to split armor, clothing and outfit is because of the slot they use:

  • Armor means: split parts take only take 1 slot (left/right arm, chest piece, left/right leg).
  • Clothing means: body layer.
  • Outfit means: body layer + an armor slot or headpiece.

The difference is already highlighted here, here and here. --YoDsanklai (talk, blogs) 12:20, January 18, 2016 (UTC)
