Carlton Cole Magee (January 1872 – February 1946) was an American lawyer and publisher. He patented the first parking meter which was installed for use.

Background[]

Magee was the founder of The Albuquerque Tribune, published originally as Magee's Independent. He was influential in bringing the Teapot Dome scandal to light, exposing government corruption. Following a manslaughter case in which Magee was tried but acquitted, Magee moved to Oklahoma City, where he designed and patented the first parking meter model as a means of increasing traffic turnover and afterwards saw it through to implementation with the help of university professors.

Notes[]

In Fallout 3, Magee is mentioned as the inventor of the parking meter on a plaque in the Museum of Technology. He, along with three other inventors, are described "some of the more overlooked American Inventors". He was depicted by artist Lincoln Myers in a frame near the plaque, although the picture is no longer present by 2277.[1]

Appearances[]

Carl C. Magee is mentioned only in Fallout 3.
