Captain Dean Boat Rentals is an unmarked location in the Mojave Wasteland in 2281. It is located at the edge of Lake Mead in Callville Bay.

Layout[]

The old boat storage warehouse to the left of the rental store is crawling with up to seven cazadores and several nests. Lakelurks can be found nearby on the shores of Lake Mead. Outside the store, the sign reads "Captain Dean Boats & Bait, Rentals, Worms, Ice Cream."[Non-game 1]

Upon entering, the Courier will encounter up to five giant rats. There is a bookshelf in the middle of the room with two counters on the righthand and back walls. On the left, there are four shelving units containing many items. Behind the far counter, there is an Average locked safe. On the righthand side wall, there is a bulletin board with key hooks and keys, under a sign reading "boat rentals." The keys cannot be interacted with.

Notable loot[]

Two Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle caps - One is located in the middle display box of the front counter, and one by the cash register.

Notes[]

In Captain Dean Boat Rentals, on the shelf directly in front upon entering is a toy car that merely says "Take." However, it cannot be taken, and picking it up causes the pop up, "Good! Now push (grab button) again to let go of the skull."

Appearances[]

Captain Dean Boat Rentals appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.

Behind the scenes[]

The sign outside the store uses the same model and text as the sign outside of the Pirate Pely shack in Fallout 3. Only the "talking parrots" line was removed from the bottom.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Xbox 360Xbox 360 Picking up (but not adding to the Courier's inventory) a toy car atop a shelf by the door results in a prompt to click the right stick to drop the skull. [verified]
  • PCPC Xbox 360Xbox 360 The toy car atop the shelf by the door may not be labeled, displaying a blank name and rendering it unable to be added to the Courier's inventory. [verified]
  • PCPC Xbox 360Xbox 360 Opening the safe in the back left corner of the room, scrolling through its contents, and "closing" the safe may cause an unlisted environmental sound effect. [verified]

Once a small port and boat launch, Callville Bay is a derelict no-man's land overrun by Cazadores from their nest inside the corrugated warehouse that has fallen in on itself. There's a (currently inactive) harpoon winch on the launch itself. Lake Mead is great sources of drinking water, so sip yourself healthy, and don't forget to visit Captain Dean's Boat Rentals."
