Callahan's Magnum is a weapon which was added to Fallout 3 with the Broken Steel add-on.
Characteristics[]
Callahan's Magnum is a unique scoped .44 Magnum previously used by Pentagon military policeman Harold Callahan. It's the most powerful Small Guns handgun in the game used by the player character.
Durability[]
Callahan's Magnum can fire a total of about 205 rounds, the equivalent of 35 reloads, from full condition before breaking, roughly 23 rounds fewer than the normal scoped .44.
Variants[]
- Scoped .44 Magnum - The standard variant.
- Blackhawk - While it's much stronger than the regular .44, it is also the weakest of the unique versions. However, it is the best version in the original game with no add-ons.
Paulson's revolver - Drawn by space cowboy Paulson in the hostile confines of Mothership Zeta, it lacks the scope and fires a slew of pellets instead of a single bullet.- Wernher's scoped .44 Magnum - An unobtainable version of the scoped .44 Magnum carried by Wernher. It has significantly higher health but is otherwise identical to the standard variant.

Location[]
It can be found in a hard safe within the ruins of the Citadel if one chooses to destroy it while on-board the Enclave mobile base crawler during the quest Who Dares Wins. Enter the door at the bottom of the crater, head up the stairs, and enter the cubicle against the far wall. The safe requires a Lockpick skill of 75, alternatively one can hack a terminal with a Science skill of 75.
This weapon is unobtainable if one does not choose to destroy the Citadel unless console commands are used.
Behind the scenes[]
The weapon's name is a reference to Harry Callahan from the Dirty Harry movies who carries a Smith & Wesson Model 29 .44 Magnum as his signature weapon, even though in the films it was never scoped. Indeed, if one uses Callahan's terminal to unlock the safe, it is revealed that this certain Callahan's first name was "Harold".
