C&O Canal is an unmarked location in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. in the Capital Wasteland in 2277.

Layout

The canal is comprised of a short waterway, accessible by sloped ramp to the west of Foggy Bottom station. At the convergence of Canal Street and Bradley Place, an entrance is marked with steel arches bearing the location's name. On the opposite shore of the canal, another labeled arch can be found. The doorway to DCTA tunnel 014-B Potomac is found on the waterway's northern edge.[1]

The waterway is blocked to the west by the rubble of fallen buildings directly after a covered tress bridge. Super mutants may wander back and forth on the bridge. On the southern side of the walkway, an ammunition box and first aid kit can be found, near one or two centaurs meandering about.[2][3]

Notes

A cut C&O Canal street sign is included in the game files.

Appearances

C&O Canal appears only in Fallout 3.

Behind the scenes

The C&O Canal is based on the real world location of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, C&O Canal for short, that begins in northwest Washington, D.C. neighborhood of Georgetown.

If you need to reach the center of the interior, or west to the Arlington National Cemetery, take this route."
