Appearances[]

Burning Springs appears only in Fallout 76, introduced in the Burning Springs update.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Overall, the Burning Springs region is a segment of the real-world area known as Appalachian Ohio. According to producer Bill LaCoste, the real-world range of Burning Springs could be compared to "south of Point Pleasant/Gallipolis, west to about Dexter [City] maybe, and up north to Athens. So just a really small SE portion of it."[Non-game 1]
  • There are several parts of the Burning Springs region that are inaccessible, but were visibly adjusted on the world map to accommodate for the new region. Producer Rebeccah Bassell did not confirm nor deny that these areas were being saved for future content, but did mention that it was easier for the development team to "add space" into the map rather than take away from or restrict existing lands, especially in the context of player CAMP placement. Rebeccah said that the borders of Burning Springs seen in the Public Test Server were the intended borders to launch with for the live release of the Burning Springs update, but also said "the wasteland has a way of always changing."[Non-game 2] When asked about boarded-up buildings at locations in Burning Springs, Rebeccah said "[we] will be holding off opening more locations for reasons or maybe not reasons but it's on our radar!"[Non-game 3] The Rust King also hints toward future story content in dialogue at the end of When the Rust Settles.[1]

  1. Bill LaCoste on the official Bethesda Game Studios Discord: "Think of it as reaching a liittleIn-game spelling, punctuation and/or grammar south of Point Pleasant/Gallipolis, west to about Dexter maybe, and up north to Athens. So just a really small SE portion of it."
  2. Rebeccah Bassell on the Bethesda Game Studios official Discord: "The borders you're seeing around the map are the borders we're intending to launch with.
Some inside baseball as to why: it's MUCH easier for us to add space to the map than to take it away/restrict for new content.
The last thing we want to do is have someone build a cool CAMP somewhere and then bulldoze it when we release more things.
Maybe we release more things there? Maybe we don't? Maybe I am a figment of your imagination? :hehe:
TL;DR - yes, but stay tuned ❤️ The wasteland has a way of always changing!"
  3. Rebeccah Bassell on the Bethesda Game Studios official Discord: "Noted on the traps and environmental hazards. Will be holding off opening more locations for 👀 reasons or maybe not reasons 👀 but it's on our radar!"
