Buffout is a chem in Fallout 3.

Background[edit | edit source]

Buffout is a highly advanced steroid that was popularized before the Great War by professional athletes and their clandestine use of the drug.[1] Lucy claims that treatment for rickets (a common childhood disease) can be made through an extract of Buffout.[2]

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Buffout is a consumable performance-enhancing drug that boosts both Strength and Endurance, in addition to a health increase of 60 HP. After about ten minutes the chem wears off and drains 60 HP from the current total; if having less than 60 HP, the total health will be reduced to 1.

Addiction can occur and can only be removed by a visit to a doctor or by using the detox function at My First Laboratory, if the Lone Wanderer has purchased it for their house. It carries a 10% Addiction rate.

Locations[edit | edit source]

Although many vendors will have one or two doses, significant quantities of Buffout are sold by:

Notes[edit | edit source]

The bottles of Buffout have the icon for Buffout in Fallout and Fallout 2 integrated into the labeling of the item. Printed on these bottles are lengthy usage instructions and an expiration date of 10/13.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

Playstation 3Icon ps3.png If you attempt to use the status tab to heal yourself, you can't gain the extra 60 HP afforded by the chem. However, if you use stimpaks or other healing items in the inventory-aid panel, you can gain the full 60 HP. [verified]
