Blood-Nap is a unique weapon in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Lonesome Road.
Characteristics[]
Compared to the standard Bowie knife, Blood-Nap deals higher critical hit damage with a higher critical chance. It also grants a temporary skill increase of +10 to Sneak when equipped. It is considered an improved holdout weapon.
Special attack[]
Blood-Nap has a special "Blood-Nap" attack, which does 80% damage in V.A.T.S. at the cost of 7 fewer action points (requires a Melee skill of 50).

It is possible to execute "Blood-Nap" outside of V.A.T.S. (without the required Melee skill of 50 to perform the move) by initiating a power attack (hold attack button) while moving forward.
Durability[]
Blood-Nap can successfully strike about 495 times from full condition before breaking.

Locations[]
The weapon is located in the Courier's Mile, which only becomes accessible after first completing The Launch by completing the missile launch sequence at the Ashton silo control station. Upon first entering the Courier's Mile, Blood-Nap can be found wedged into the pole of a streetlamp just to the left.
Notes[]
- The weapon's Sneak bonus will be shown as "Activated" when the weapon is equipped in an on-screen message.
- It is one of the few unique weapons in Fallout: New Vegas with the same appearance as its non-unique counterpart.
- The weapon may glow blue in dark areas.
- Blood-Nap does more damage and has a higher DPS than even the unique combat knife, Chance's knife, making it an extremely formidable single-handed bladed weapon.
- Unlike most items that raise a skill's level, Blood-Nap's +10 Sneak does not act as a bonus, but rather as a direct raise of the skill level, i.e. if the player character has it equipped when they level up, some perks that require a high Sneak skill level will become available if the player character's Sneak is already, or is raised to at least 10 lower than the required level. For example, Mister Sandman requires 50 Sneak and if a player character with 40 Sneak equips Blood-Nap before leveling up to an even-numbered level and choosing a perk, Mister Sandman will be available.
Behind the scenes[]
The weapon's name is a play on the phrase "take a dirt-nap," a slang term among organized crime groups for executing a target and burying them in an unmarked grave, intending to hide evidence of the kill from potential discovery by authorities. The "dirt-nap" term is used several times by Set in Fallout.
