The black powder pistol is a non-automatic pistol in Fallout 76.
Characteristics[]
Produced by Henry Aston in Middleton, Connecticut in 1850,[1] the black powder pistol is a percussion cap muzzleloader that makes use of .50 caliber balls as ammunition. It also has a unique reloading animation that involves the player character using a ramrod to push a single lead ball down the pistol's barrel.
Variants[]
- Black powder blunderbuss - Visually identical to the blunderbuss, but with a lower out of range damage penalty.
Locations[]
- Four pistols can be found in the museum at Philippi Battlefield Cemetery inside various display cases.
- Can be obtained through Vertibot airdrops.
- Can be found northwest of Helvetia.
- Plans/note can be bought from Flintlock, the black powder vendor inside The Whitespring Resort.
- Random drop from Scorched.
- Found on a body of a Civil War reenactor, in the mountains south of Poseidon power substation PX-03.
- Can be found at Van Lowe Taxidermy, inside a display case.
Notes[]
- The black powder pistol deals 90% less damage when out of range, 40% more than the black powder blunderbuss's 50%.
- No longer spawns with the following legendary effects:
- Rapid
- Last Shot
- Quad
- Double
- After the update which specified exactly how much damage the Explosive legendary effect does (20%/3%), it was discovered that black powder pistols only spawned with the 3% variant, and that 20% was a legacy item. This is no longer the case.
- As of the Milepost Zero update, this weapon can drop with Quad. With Quad, the weapon's fire rate increases to 20; while it does reload up to 4 shots and fire appropriately fast, each shot must be reloaded individually.
Bugs[]
- Sometimes, by pressing the fire button extremely quickly while reloading, it is possible to fire five shots without the need to reload between each shot.[verified]
