Benefit Or a Hazard is a one-star (★) challenge added with the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Gun Runners' Arsenal.
Challenge requirements[]
One must kill 15 robots with the 5.56mm pistol or the unique variant, That Gun.
Locations[]
- Several hardened sentry bots and hardened Mister Gutsies are found guarding the crashed vertibird.
- There are several Protectrons on the factory floor of Sunset Sarsaparilla headquarters.
- There are two crazed Mister Handies and three Mr Steels found inside New Vegas Steel. The Mr. Steels respawn every four in-game days.
- A Mister Gutsy can be found in Nipton, inside one of the houses in the north-eastern side of the town. It respawns every 3-4 in-game days.
- Any Securitron on the Strip and the Strip North Gate. "Killing" Victor will cause the failure of the The House Always Wins quest lines. This will also cause a loss in the Strip reputation.
- There are 13 hardened Mister Gutsies (or similar) in and around REPCONN headquarters.
- There are 7 Protectrons, 4 Sentry bots (behind a locked door requiring a 60 Repair skill level to open), and 6 automated turrets encountered in the Securitron vault beneath the Fort, entered during Render Unto Caesar, The House Always Wins II, and/or Wild Card: You and What Army?
- Big MT are inhabited by robots include the Y-17 medical facility, the X-8 research center, the X-2 transmitter antenna array, and the Think Tank with the five think tank members of the Think Tank. Multiple locations in

Notes[]
- While the Mister Handies found at the REPCONN headquarters do not count for Man-Machine Interface, they do count for this challenge. You can even disable them first, then shoot them.
- This challenge is not repeatable.
Behind the scenes[]
The challenge's name and requirements are a reference to the film Blade Runner, specifically referencing this dialogue from protagonist Rick Deckard: "Replicants are like any other machine. They're either a benefit or a hazard. If they're a benefit, it's not my problem." The 5.56mm pistol and its unique variant That Gun also are modelled after Deckard's pistol in the film.
