The baseball bat is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.
Characteristics[]
A two-handed blunt melee weapon once used as baseball sporting gear before the Great War, since repurposed for violent purposes like many things in the wasteland. It has the second highest durability of all blunt melee weapons (below only the cattle prod) which, combined with its relative availability in the early game, makes it a viable choice for a melee-focused character to use.
Visually, the weapon is identical to its counterpart in Fallout 3, consisting of a wooden body and a handle, with the inscription "Since 1879" below a circled uppercase cursive "B" near the middle of the body.
Special attack[]
The baseball bat can perform a Grand Slam special attack that does 200% damage in V.A.T.S. at the cost of 10 more action points (requires a Melee skill of 50).

It is possible to execute Grand Slam outside of V.A.T.S. (without the required Melee skill of 50 to perform the move) by initiating a power attack (hold attack button) while moving forward.
Durability[]
The baseball bat can successfully strike about 1,995 times from full condition before breaking.

Behind the scenes[]
In the sport of baseball, a "grand slam" occurs when a home run is scored while all the bases are "loaded" or occupied by baserunners, thereby scoring four home runs, the most possible on a single play.
