Upgrades[]
All upgrades for Milepost Zero characters, including Axel, are handled through dialogue with Marley, specifically the option to give an employee more resources.
With Axel, his tiered upgrades give more options for decoration sets. Each theme gives a different look and aesthetic for the Milepost Zero interior, though the changes are purely decorative and have no other effects.
- Tier 1 (initial hiring, default): 125 Supplies to hire Axel
- Tier 2: 150 Supplies
- After upgrading to tier 2, the note "Surveying report" appears on the table near Marley.
- Tier 3: 200 Supplies
- After upgrading to tier 3, purchasing any theme from Axel will unlock a dialogue option in which he gives the player the plan for his snow globe.
Decoration sets[]
At Tier 1, two decoration themes are available from Axel:
- Blue Ridge (0 Supplies, default)
- Military (40 Supplies)
Tier 2 and Tier 3 unlock one theme each:
- Tier 2: Antiques (40 Supplies)
- Tier 3: Cultist (40 Supplies)

Notes[]
When purchasing a decoration set from Axel, the interior may not automatically reset like it does when hiring crew members from Marley. Exiting and re-entering the Milepost Zero interior will implement the changes.
Appearances[]
Axel appears only in Fallout 76, introduced in the Milepost Zero update.
Behind the scenes[]
The following is based on Fallout 76 cut content. |
- In the game's files, Axel has a system set up to offer a daily miscellaneous quest. The quest would have offered one of several rewards at random, including bobbleheads, magazines, common or rare junk items, food items, or the plan for his snow globe. However, this quest is not implemented in-game and cannot be accessed in any way through Axel's dialogue, and was later marked in the files as cut content.
End of information based on Fallout 76 cut content |
- Until patch 1.7.15.12 (update 55), Axel's snow globe was unobtainable as a result of the aforementioned cut content. With patch 55, the plan was made accessible through Axel's tier 3 dialogue.
Bugs[]
patch 1.7.15.12 (update 55).[patched]
Axel's dialogue would frequently bug on his opening line, and would close out without accessing the player prompts. It could take several tries to access Axel's dialogue tree without the conversation closing. This was reportedly fixed withGallery[]
