007607DD 007611B8 Well... the research we did prior to the bombs dropping is classified. And to be honest, who cares anymore.
My current research is focused on the weather machine, and it's relationship to the Lost.
But I won't go into that either because we'd be here all day and, to be honest, I'm not sure that's something I'd want to freely discuss.
007607DE 007611AE Not like I had another choice. You've met my father. He doesn't really take no for an answer.
007607DF 007611B9 Not quite. I've always been interested in nature and science. I'd spend hours watching the stars as a kid.
You know, what I actually wanted to pursue astronomy... but my father needed a specialist, and insisted it be a family endeavor.
I was put in charge, but my team did all of the heavy lifting. I think they saw my heart wasn't in it, that I was mainly a family figurehead.
But I guess my research still has me looking up at the sky. That's... almost astronomy, right?
007607E1 007611BB But now that my father is out of the picture I can at least turn things around a bit.
Hopefully I can carve my own path now and take this research to where I want.
007611BC Kinda depressing thinking about my lack of free will.
I think I'd prefer to talk about something else now.
007607E2 007611BF Fine, the quick version, then. A few years after the bombs, our residents were battling against "going Feral." A complete loss of their minds.
All of our facilities research pointed their efforts toward solving that. The weather machine included...
By complete accident, we had discovered that close proximity to the machine had a sort of reversing effect on the symptoms of feralization.
Things... didn't shake out as planned, though. *sigh* I'm sorry, really this is all I'm willing to share on this. I mean it.
007607E3 007611B2 Was there something less complex you wanted to know about?
007607EA 007611C2 To be honest, I'm not sure I'll miss him all too much.
He's controlled every aspect of my life whilst also being never present.
Quite the achievement, actually.
I'm looking forward to making my own decisions and making a life of my own.
007611C3 Sure is.
Still, not sure he deserves to be reduced to a Lab Rat. I think Oberlin is taking it a bit far this time...
But for now I'll keep my head down until I've decided what to do with my Mother.
007607EE 007611B1 My parents were never very present or available.
So I'm used to not having them around all the time.
007607EF 007611BD But between my father and my mother, I do wish it would have been him in a coma.
At least my mother had some heart left, after my father was done corrupting her.
It's always the good ones that we lose isn't it?
007611BE But at least with my father out the way now I can go visit her more often.
So in a way I actually have more of a mother now than I did before.
007607F0 007611C0 Ha! No. She is a sweetheart. Maybe a little too sweet for me.
We had very different upbringings... I do envy her sometimes... her parents actually cared.
Sometimes it's hard to believe we're actually all related.
007607F3 007611C1 Having someone with such strong communist views, sweet talking the heir of his business, build on capitalist foundations.
I mean you can see how he'd find that threatening right?
I still begged my father to allow her to join us in the Vault, but to no avail.
Shortly after I talked to my father she vanished...
I always thought he was behind all of it... and now I have proof.
I can't believe how much she's changed, though. To do something so ridiculous like kidnapping my mother?!
I don't think we could have worked things out anymore. It sounds like she was a whole different person.
And now she's gone for good?
Anyway... I think that's enough talking about this for me.
007607FD 007611C5 Mhh... I don't have a lot of time, but I can always find some to talk about my research!
Where do we start?
007607FE 007611C6 I suppose you're not wrong there...
Well to summarize it. We met in a bookshop, and whilst that might sound romantic it certainly was not love at first sight.
We actually got into a bit of an argument. *laughs*
But our differences quickly became our common ground. We loved to challenge each others views and tastes in literature.
And whilst we started to love how different we were - my father saw it as a threat.
God that sounds cheesy. I'll stop boring you with this now...
00760801 007611B6 Good, I'm busy anyway.
00760802 007611C8 I suppose. Anything in particular?
00760803 007611B7 Apology accepted.
00760804 007611AD She was the love of my life... The only one that ever got me.
But I'm not really sure how any of that is relevant to you?
00760805 00760810 Hey.
00760811 Bye.
00760812 Yes.
00760813 No.
00760814 Thank you.
00760815 I apologize.
00760816 For sure.
00760817 Get on with your task.
00760818 To focus on our previous topic.
00760819 Wait a second, I'm not done.
0076081A I've got other things to do.
00760806 0076080B Oh! I got struck by an idea, gotta write it down! Where is my notepad... Ah there is still a blank space on the wall - that'll do!
0076080C It can't be... Surely the name is a coincidence... It's a pretty popular name after all...
0076080D So it was her... But why?
0076080E God why did I waste so many years? This newfound freedom feels amazing...
0076080F *mumbles angrily* when it rains it pours...
00760807 0076081C P-please... don't talk to me right now...
0076081D What a time to be alive!
0076081E Please don't touch anything in here. We've already had enough damage...
0076081F This facility is filled with state-of-the art technology but you probably can't even appreciate that.
00760820 If you break it. You repair it.
00760821 Nice job on finding the replacement part.
00760823 Why did they take you from me... monsters! converted to Lost. Lost sound like the character but speak as if in trance. Broken up with static, pauses and screams. It should sound unnerving

00760808 00761170 Sorry, did you need something?
00761171 Happy to help! What do you need?
00761172 Make it quick. I gotta get back to my work.
00761173 I don't have time for a long chat.
00761174 Yes?
007611C9 Please... *buzzing* take me to her... converted to Lost. Lost sound like the character but speak as if in trance. Broken up with static, pauses and screams. It should sound unnerving

007611CC Hello? Nice shadow?... *Crackles*... Get back! converted to Lost. Lost sound like the character but speak as if in trance. Broken up with static, pauses and screams. It should sound unnerving
007611CD There's time *crackling* still time... If I can just... *cries out* converted to Lost. Lost sound like the character but speak as if in trance. Broken up with static, pauses and screams. It should sound unnerving
0076B49D 0076B49F I don't blame you for trying to wrap your head around things. With all that happened along the way, it's been hard to remember how it all connected.
It all started with "going Feral," though. That was the root of all our worries after the bombs. The only real threat we faced.
By pure chance, we learned that exposure to the weather machine had a reversing effect on the symptoms... but only for a brief time.
My father... decided that he saw enough. That the machine would be the solution. He took it into his own hands, and doomed us all.
While we were called away to a phony meeting in the Atrium, he snuck my ailing mother to the machine, and introduced the Lost to the world.
A few decades later, after our research once again showed early signs of progress... he did it again. This time, going further than before.
Thus, the storm, the shattered grounds, the Vault opening and freeing the Lost to roam the surface.
Time and time again, that lunatics obsession to control the uncontrollable endangered all of us. His impatience always putting us at risk.
You put that to rest... but we're still dealing with the remnants of his actions... Seems like nothing can stop the Lost or the storm now.
0076B49E 0076B4A0 We're making our way back to normal... Slowly but steadily. I hope to get us to a point where we can open our doors to new folks some day.
But it's been more challenging than I thought. I hadn't really grasped the burden my Father and Oberlin carried in being leaders.
It's just... there's so much more to it than just wanting what's best for everyone. But I think I'll learn. In time.
