“Your faithful canine companion can hold an enemy, giving you a greater chance to hit them in V.A.T.S.”— Fallout 4 In-game description
Attack Dog is a perk in Fallout 4.
Effects
If having any dog companion, it will occasionally bite and hold on to an enemy, allowing the Sole Survivor to shoot the debilitated enemy, with a greater accuracy if using V.A.T.S.

Notes
- This is the only companion perk which can be unlocked via leveling up, the rest must be gained by earning the companion's respect.
- Dogmeat already automatically tries to hold enemies without the need for rank 1 of this perk. However, you do not get bonus VATS accuracy, which is the true benefit for the first rank of this perk.
- Has synergy with the Lone Wanderer perk, since traveling with Dogmeat still allows that perk to be active.
- Along with Lone Wanderer this perk is semi-unique in offering actual damage reduction instead of a static amount of damage resistance. Due to diminishing returns of armor, the 10% offered by rank 4 can be worth literally hundreds of damage resistance for someone in high-level gear or Power Armor, though it is not as useful for someone with little to no armor.
