“If you're wandering the Commonwealth with Dogmeat, these improvements in his training allow him to savage any foes you both come across. For the dog lover.”— Fallout 4 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide description
Attack Dog is a Charisma perk in Fallout 4.
Effects[]
Taking ranks of this perk grants additional combat properties to Dogmeat's ability to bite and hold onto an enemy, such as a temporary increase to accuracy in V.A.T.S. Higher ranks grant the chance that the bitten limb becomes crippled and for the enemy to suffer bleeding damage, as well as a temporary 10% decrease to damage dealt to the player character when Dogmeat is an active companion.
Ranks[]
Rank | Requirements | Description | Form ID |
---|---|---|---|
1 | CH 4 | Your faithful canine companion can hold an enemy, giving you a greater chance to hit them in V.A.T.S. | 0004B26D |
2 | CH 4, LVL 9 | When your dog holds an enemy, there's a chance he'll cripple the limb he's biting. | 001D244D |
3 | CH 4, LVL 25 | When your dog holds an enemy, there's a chance he'll cause them to bleed. | 001D244E |
4 | CH 4, LVL 31 | When adventuring with your dog, you take 10% less damage. | xx029B25 |
Notes[]
- Unlike all other companion perks, which are gained by raising Affinity, this is the only one that is unlocked via increasing one's level and spending perk points.
- Dogmeat is already capable of biting and subduing an enemy without the first rank of this perk; taking it simply offers the temporary VATS accuracy bonus.
- With the Nuka-World add-on installed, rank 4 of this perk has a similar benefit to Lone Wanderer in that taking it offers actual damage reduction instead of a set amount of Damage Resistance.
- Additionally, because having Dogmeat as a companion does not void the benefits of Lone Wanderer, taking all ranks of this perk and up to rank 2 of Lone Wanderer results in a maximum 40% decrease to damage dealt.
