Assaultrons are a model of robot appearing in Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Fallout: Wasteland Warfare and the Fallout: The Roleplaying Game.
Background[]
Developed by RobCo Industries then sold to the U.S. Military as a frontline combatant, the Assaultron is deadly in melee combat, equipped with a head laser capable of devastating enemies at longer ranges, and may even have stealth technology.[1][2]
Variants[]
Assaultron[]
The standard variant of the Assaultron is a bipedal robot that has military markings and an olive drab paint scheme similar to other US military robots. It is equipped with two hand claws that it can use in melee combat, and a head laser that can be used to attack targets at longer ranges.
Assaultron dominator[]
A relatively uncommon variant of the Assaultron, the dominator is equipped with two swords instead of the standard claws in addition to its head laser. In addition, dominators also have stealth technology integrated into them, and can cloak themselves while approaching their target.
Imposter sheepsquatch[]
This modified Assaultron unit was developed by Calvin van Lowe in his attempt to hunt down the fabled Sheepsquatch cryptid. It was designated "Mary's Little Lamb" by the Bysshe Company, who sponsored the project as part of a bid to drive down real estate values in Lewisburg.[3][4]
The project team consisted of Calvin (codenamed Blacksheep) as the main developer, Bo-Peep as the handler, and Big Bad Wolf as the fixer.[5] After initiating a mating protocol[6] and maiming Calvin van Lowe, the Imposter Sheepsquatch escaped containment. Big Bad Wolf attempted to contain the rogue Assaultron using prototype anti-robot technology developed by the Garrahan Mining Company[7][8] at the pylon ambush site. He ultimately failed, but left an automated message for anyone to finish where he left off.[9]
Another variant of the Imposter Sheepsquatch, dubbed the "Sheepsquatch Imposterling," was created not by Calvin van Lowe, but by the Imposter Sheepsquatch itself. The Sheepsquatch Imposterling was a generic assaultron unit encountered by the Imposter Sheepsquatch and subsequently given a backdoor installation of the "mating rituals" and a directive to kill any Bysshe Company employees on sight. The Imposterling was given another subdirective to report any and all assaultron sightings to the "mother unit" so that the cycle of "reproduction" could continue.[10] Ultimately, the Imposterling ended up sealed within the lower areas of the Bysshe natural gas pipeline facility in the Harpers Ferry tunnel,[11] and was destroyed in 2104 by a Vault Dweller from Vault 76 and Paladin Leila Rahmani.[12]

Behind the scenes[]
In both Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, Assaultrons are voiced by Colleen Delany, whose voice is digitally processed to be much deeper.
