The AK-112 assault rifle is a small gun in Fallout.
Background[]
The AK-112 assault rifle[1] is a military assault rifle. The AK-112 was in service during the early 21st century but was replaced by more modern models. Chambered for the 5mm round, it utilizes a 24-round magazine. The AK-112 was eventually considered aged and was no longer in use prior to the Great War.[1]
Characteristics[]
The AK-112 is a decent weapon, with mid-ranged bursts of hollow-point rounds being able to slice through even combat armor. However, the AP rounds are not effective against anything above metal armor.
Locations[]
- Sold by Jacob in the Hub's Old Town.
- Hub police stationed at the Hub entrance and Old Town carry these, along with 150 rounds of 5mm AP and JHP rounds of ammunition (only police wearing combat armor carry ammunition).
- One in Watershed, in the left bookshelf behind Harry.
- One can be found on a corpse on the first level of the Glow.
- One in a wall locker on level one of the Glow.
- One in a wall locker on level four of the Glow.
- Two in a wall locker on level 5 of the Glow.
- Each of the Brotherhood of Steel knights in the training room on the first level of the Lost Hills bunker has one that can be stolen. They also do not turn hostile if caught in the act.
- One can be found in the Boneyard; in the second house on the right side, in the Adytum district.
- Zack at the Boneyard sells them, along with ammunition.
- Morpheus carries one.
Behind the scenes[]
The weapon was originally named the "Colt Rifle" in the beta version of Fallout, dealing dealing 7d6 or 7 to 42 damage; this put it on par with the 7.62x51mm FN FAL or G3 from GURPS High Tech, rather than the 5.56x45mm M16A1.[2]
